    We've heard this before:
“Yeah, we’re going to target starting pitching, and then if not, continue to try to reinforce the bullpen,” said Cashman. “But the bottom line is just trying to add quality to what we already have. … Houston’s going to get better. Tampa’s going to get better. Boston’s going to get better. Minnesota’s going to get better Oakland’s going to get better. … They’re going to add to their area [of need]. A lot of the players in the mix are in the similar category of quality, so there’s going to be a number of choices out there.”

I for one will only believe the Trashman when I see it. With our luck, he'll sign another mediocre has been.

Severino coming back in 6-7 weeks, I don't believe it.

Trashman finally admits he fucked up with Severino's comeback, allowing him to pitch WITHOUT a MRI prior to throwing...

    Who might be available:??

    • Mad Bum, why not? A big game pitcher with plenty of Post Season experience. He's having a down year, with a horrible Team. His numbers are up higher than normal; and his 017-018 seasons were not his norm. He had his shoulder injury of 017, and he fractured his pitching hand last yr. This yr he was hit in the elbow with a 98mph line drive. His X-rays were negative and has a elbow bruise. He's scheduled back tomorrow. Although his velocity since 017 has dropped from 93mph to 91,4, he's the type of crafty pitcher who can succeed with slightly diminished velocity. A Glavinesque type of Crafty SP.
Madison will be a FA at years end; age 30. He's currently making 12 Million $$$
    • Stroman? Not no Hell NO... Sure he's plays on a horrible team. But- he's also played on some decent Jays teams, and his stats just don't warrant even taking a look at him, imo. Sure Stroman can eat up innings, but he's not the Ace the Yanx need; and would be another disappointment, i.e. Happ, Paxton?? He gives up too many walks and hits, long balls, and at 5'7" should be on a short list targeted for the round file...
Stroman will be a FA at years end, age 29, and is currently making 7.4 Million $$$
    • Wheeler? Again not NO, Hell No!!! Wheeler walks way to many, has an infalted 4.69 ERA, gives up too many Hits, and HR's, and has never been an Ace, and never will be. Trashman's kind of SP imo... Sure he has an electric fastball, fans plenty of batters, but also walks too many and gives up to many hits, for a SP with an electric fastball imo.
Wheeler will be a FA after this year at age 29. He's making 5.975 Million $$$
    • Bauer: Honestly I like this kid. He's become a workhorse this year; leading all AL SP's in IP's. He has moments of wildness, can walk too many battters, but also has shown flashes of brilliance; a high K-rate, too many HR's. Imo given the proper Pitching Coaching this 28 year old could be an eventual Cy Young Candidate; except Rothschild is NOT the Pitching Coach to bring Bauer to the promised land...
Bauer will be a FA after this year, at age 28. He's making 13 Million $$$

Then there's Mad Max. Dream On, it's not gonna happen. The Nats are back in playoff contention; and it would cost the Yanx a shitload of prospects, and the Yanx would have to pick up Max's huge contract. It's not gonna happen.

My personal pick: Mad Bum all the way....

    https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2019/07/12/yankees-trade-deadline-deal-ace/

Passing on Justin Verlander in 2017 will likely go down as the biggest mistake of Brian Cashman’s long career. The decision to trade for Sonny Gray instead of the future Hall of Famer literally cost New York the AL pennant that season.

In 2018, Cashman passed on acquiring Gerrit Cole and waited until the trade deadline to pick up J.A. Happ. Cole had the best season of his career in Houston. Happ was 7-0 for the Yankees, but will only be remembered for giving up five runs in just two innings to the Red Sox in Game 1 of the ALDS.

If Cashman settles for another mediocre starter that costs the Yankees a world title, it’ll be a blow the general manager’s legacy never recovers from.

    6. The cheaper options on the trade market aren’t making the pitching staff any better

Speaking of those mediocre starters — is Zack Wheeler, or Matthew Boyd, or even Marcus Stroman really the guy the Yankees want to hand the ball to in Game 3 of the ALDS?

Saw Girardi on MLB Central this AM and many of the above issues were touched on. With the resurgence of Cleveland and Washington I'd have to think Bauer Scherzer and the like will be retained for now . Their information on Severino was late August and out of the Pen only. Fucking Cashman has talked out of both sides of his mouth some would say, my take is that Yankee Fans were flat out lied to. On Bumgarner Heyman hyped him as a possibility for Atlanta. Mad bum is from North Carolina puts him close to home and they stated prospects Atlanta could offer. I can't picture Mad Bum anywhere but San Fran but who knows. That closer in San Fran don't remember his name the '19 Phenom would be a great addition for the pen. Girardi, sharp player, good manager gets fires, shines on MLB showing the stupidity of Cashman and the Brass. The doubles down on stupidity by hiring Boner and not getting the staff straight, He'd best find a better way to help this team than he did in '15 when the team blew a 7 game lead over Toronto.

Mad Bum has given up a lot of hard contact and fly balls, I don't know how that would work in Yankee Stadium. He usually averages more than a K per inning which is nothing like Glavine.

When has Stroman ever given up too many HRs? Mad Bum has given up 18 to Stro's 10 this year, who is the HR prone pitcher? When has Stroman ever given up "too many walks"? How many is too many? He's a ground ball guy who pitches to contact, he will give up hits (like Wang used to) but also get lots of DPs. He's not an ace but right now I would say he's better than Mad Bum.

Stroman is not a FA at the end of the season either, he has one more year of arbitration left. Same for Bauer, where do you get your contract info?

Listening to Amsinger & Reynolds pimping Stroman to be akin to the 2nd coming of Cy Young to the Mets.

This could be the most anti-climatic trade deadlines ever. MLB really screwed the pooch with this one. You have the extra wild card, which means more teams believe they have a shot at the playoffs, therefore aren’t willing to sell. However, instead of making the official trade deadline the old waiver deadline (since that would at least give you a few more weeks to see if a team is legitimately in the hunt or not) MLB says “fuck it. If anyone knows how to screw shit up, we do!” And they leave the trade deadline as July 31, thereby eliminating a LOT of potential big trades and allowing themselves to become pushed aside for NFL training camp news, not even pre season games...but training camp. Gotta love the direction baseball is headed lol.

Funniest part of that trade is that Cleveland has traded for a player that is now going to be suspended for 5-10 games lol

Who for what? This is literally Trashman making a move for movement sake. I’ve seen better movements in my toilet after a long night of drinking.

Seriously though. This franchise has basically already said that Frazier has no place here because of his attitude, which is fine. Then trade him for a starter. Garcia, he could be an ace (in 3 years) or a bust, but Cashman sure as shit better hope he’s no worse than a #2 because he refused to deal him and he’s easily 2-3 years away from truly being on this team without an innings limit.
