Why does Kiki love tall foreign players that suck? Is there a difference between Jianlian and Nikoloz Tskitishvili? Both of them are foreign 7'0 shooters. Yi was drafted 6th while Tskitishvili was drafted 5th. Both were compared to Dirk. Both are terrible players. They sound pretty similar. Can there be a more useless player than Yi? Other than Sean Williams of course. Can there? This guy is an abysmal basketball player. He is the worst defender I have ever seen at any position. He's got a great looking jumper, I'll give him that, but as of now, he's a completely useless player. He doesn't defend, doesn't rebound, doesn't hustle at all, cannot create his own shot, and cannot attack the rim and finish. To think that this guy has star potential is absolutely absurd. This is not an over-reaction to one game. Practically every time I've seen him play this season, he's been a major liability on the basketball court. I hope this guy turns out to be a decent player, but I just don't see it. There is no doubt that he has talent, but it doesn't appear that he has the mental toughness to be a successful player. Maybe that comes with age, but I'm skeptical. Anderson and Boone need to be given more playing time and hopefully Najera can salvage his season. The less minutes for Yi, the better. At least when Anderson's shot isn't falling he can contribute in other ways. He hustles, fights for rebounds, and isn't afraid to attack the basket. Yi could learn a thing or two from him. MVP 30/20 Anderson for the majority of the minutes!
I was thinking, instead of playing time for Yi to try and develop him, maybe the Nets should focus on developing him in practice. Dedicate him to a LOT of practice time and work on strength training, dribbling, shooting, develop a face up and post game. Forget playing him much for now. Don't even take him on road games. Just work on expanding his skill set and understanding of the game. Would that be a better way to develop him than throwing him out there in game situations when his game is so lacking? Hire a special big man coach for him? Do the Nets even have a special big man coach considering all the big guys they are trying to develop?
I see Yi more as dollars than skill. I would also rather see Anderson play but I don't mind that we have Yi because we got him in a salary dump.
....... Aldridge every time. Although Yi is a better rebounder, I'm almost positive Aldridge is better than him at everything else
wow, this is like a timewarp from Real GM Bucksforum last year. Someone please go and cut and paste them here. And that crappy writer Simmons from espn.
Exactly. He's had a few games, but he's been horrible the past bunch. It's not like people are making this stuff up.

Nothing has changed, he played for a shitty team last year and this year. Just like that bum RJ, garbage in garbage out.
YI isn't as bad as a lot of you are making him out to be. He's better than Anderson at this point (on offense), I don't know how thats even debatable, and Anderson's defense isn't anything to spectacular to warrant having him starting over YI. Both commit a lot of stupid fouls, but it's part of learning and growing in the NBA. Anderson does give a lot of hustle and does come up with a lot of rebounds on some nights, but that because his role differs from YI's role. YI is strictly a jumpshooter at this point of his career, and that's through no choice of his own. He's there to create spacing for Lopez to operate down low. A lot of you are complaining about Yi's defense, but lets face it, Anderson's isn't any better. Harrington destroyed both during the Knicks game, and Milsap ate Anderson alive on the glass last night, not to mention guys like Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah used the likes of Anderson and Boone to earn more playing time in their rotations. At least YI is somewhat more competent as a post defender where he's actually had some success. Give YI more time, he's still learning the language and is still learning the defense. He's 10x more talented than Anderson, and isn't worth breaking his confidence by benching him just because he's had a bad stretch of games. It's not like the Nets have aspirations of making it to the ECF, so why not take the time to properly develop Yi with playing time, rather than outright benching him in favor of a guy, who's less talented and who's potential only maxes at role player. I've been actually following the Nets this season (much more than last year), so yes I did get to see these things...
Yi may have a prettier looking jump shot than Ryan, but he doesn't do anything else better on offense. Ryan has shown some ability to put the ball on the floor and drive, spin and put up a floater in the lane. He can mix it up under the basket a little and uses pump fakes to get his shot off. And the times he gets his shot blocked he'll continue to go up strong again not backing down. And while Ryan is not great on D he's not as bad as Yi. Yi has had a consistent starters role playing with Devin and Vince while Ryan has had to compete to get into the rotation with his play. Ryan has shown he's more deserving with a shot at the starting role than Yi and he deserves a couple of games over Yi to see what he can do as a starter and play with Devin and Vince. Ryan has shown he will try to make things happen while Yi not much.
Yi is 90% of the reason we loose. Always getting beat to the basket and making weak fouls allowing his opponent to make and1 every time they are down low.
