In this morning's sermon, my pastor elucidated the difference between doubt and unbelief--that doubt seeks further evidence, whereas unbelief refuses to accept that a contrary position is even a possibility. So, that got me to thinking about Oden and this forum, and made me wonder where all of you come out on the scale of Oden health confidence. Confidence--I fully believe that he will play 65+ games and be healthy for the playoffs. Doubt--I'd love for him to be healthy, but I'll believe it when/if I see it. Unbelief--There's no way he makes it through the season without another major injury. Which of these three describes you best, or if none of them, what would be more accurate?
Not a doctor, nor have I even met him so like every other poster I really have no idea what his health is. Maybe you should ask him or his doctor.
Greg Oden paranoia anxiety disorder - GOPAD. Every time he runs, jumps, lands, I think something is going to explode ...in his knee. For his sake I hope he can stay healthy. I can't imagine what another injury will do to his psyche.
I'd say I'm doubtful-- if for no other reason than to avoid the massive disappointment I felt this past season should he happen to go down again.
I'd say I'm between "belief" and "doubt" in your terminology. I voted for belief because while I think there's a significant chance he could get hurt, the odds are against it. The way you phased the "doubt" position (I'll believe it when I see it) implies feeling the odds are against it. To me, at least. This "doubt" versus "unbelief" difference seems like another way of putting agnosticism versus atheism (versus theism). I would say I am agnostic toward it (I don't know and don't commit to a belief one way or the other) but I'll default to healthy in the absence of knowledge.
I wasn't sure how to vote so I went with other. My guess is he's mostly sustained bad luck injuries that shouldn't hamper his long-term physical abilities, but what the hell do I really know about his physical/mental state? Maybe info has been not been mentioned/held back that would lend real concern? For perspective, based on being cut a number of times and hearing dire sounding medical reports, I'm at least as concerned about Roy's knees as Greg's... Anyone can get injured as it's a rough game. Here's hoping GO comes in lean and hungry to have a great year... he probably feels he's due one STOMP
It's hard for me to have a mindset that he's going to stay healthy when he never has...Here's to 82 games of injury free play.
The 82 or high 70's isn't gonna happen right? I thought they said he might not start the season ready to go.
I've been somewhat Blazer unplugged this summer. Is what you just said based on that Cho statement awhile back or something more recent? Anyone got a recent update link.
It's almost been 10 months since he broke a bone and he's still not cleared for full contact five on five -- or even two on two for that matter. So color me doubtful that he's going to have a season free of injury or play in 95% of the games this season.
Like Maris, I am no doctor, but unlike Maris, I have asked my orhtopedic surgeon. So based on his opinion, I voted unbelief.
Yes, but your cohorts ruined that when they voted me out of that stupid game before Mixum and Kingspeed.
I picked other. I think he will have a shakey season over all with minor health issues but nothing that makes him miss any games.
