back page of today's Daily news,,,"M's skipper erupts over Yank comments about Cano's lack of hustle" And a few pages in you get this...... "Any time anybody attacks one of my players, then I'm going to defend him, and if you don't like it, tough s---." (Lloyd McClendon) "I don't even pay attention to that----- I just want to talk about Seattle. (Robinson Cano) And finally there's this......Long shot at Robbie fires up Lloyd.
And 6 month from now the headlines will be "M's fire manager" for the team not hustling on field and lackadaisical attitudes.
Like I've said, & this has nothing to do with him leaving the Yankees, I really think he's #s are going to go down in Seattle. And lets see how long McClendon keeps defending his lake of hustle.
I think they are going to go down significantly... not just because he will no longer have the short porch, but also because he'll have no real protection in the line up...
...I would also imagine that his IBB will also go up a good bit...so while his OBP may go up, I think his BA and SLG will go down.
Cano will end up staying in Seattle no more than 3 years. His contract is large, and the Mariners aren't going to be good in those first 3 years. Bad teams tend to shed themselves of large contracts when it's apparent the guy isn't getting them to the playoffs, and will eat $$$ to go in another direction. Come 2016, his name will be floated in many trade scenarios, and he'll ultimately be dealt.
Vette it may not take three years but that seems right to me. Free the Cano T-shirts will be made available by RocNation.
Hey Mike how the hell are you? You don't stop by very often. I hope all is well with you & yours & that once the season starts you'll be around more often.
Good to see you rick and MB. It's been a crazy year travel wise for me - haven't been able to partake in much either on this board, or the reddit board. Weekly trips between Florida and Arizona will do that. How have you guys been? Still would like to see them add either a 2B or 3B. if not a 3B, just give Jagielo a shot and see if the kid can take the job. Hope passing on Infante does not come back and bite them - he would look pretty good with a reasonable contract at either spot.
Good to hear from you Vette, if you get to South Florida email me. I'm kinda hoping for a SS from Colorado in a trade for salary relief that could be moved to 3B. These Santana rumors make me think that a trade is in the works. One can dream... but we all felt Infante would have been a great fit given the current roster.
Robinson's "lack of hustle" has always been so remarkably overstated that I'm not even really sure how to respond to some of the stuff I see about it. gee whiz, if the second baseman on my team is a top five player in the sport, I'll settle that he doesn't always run balls to the wall to first base either. Seems to be so completely missed that Cano was a lock to play 159+ games a season.
Robinson Cano was as durable as they get. That's a fact. And it gets very unfortunately lost in the "he's no longer a Yankee so gotta tear him down" campaign that far too many Yankee fans (and hitting coach, I guess) are embarking on.
I and many other YANKEE fans ripped his lack of hustle as a Yankee & we'll continue to do so as a Mariner. Its called being honest & real. Unlike you who are a coward that needs to hide behind multiple screens names.
durable because he never risked injury by running or playing hard... so of course he won't get hurt if he isn't playing 100%
