    Trophy Points:
    VITALS: 6-3, 200, Virginia Tech

OVERVIEW: Averaged 17.4 points, 2.1 steals and 3.1 assists in leading the Hokies to their first NCAA Tournament berth in 11 years. Scored a career-high 33 points as Virginia Tech won at North Carolina, 81-80, for its second victory over the Tar Heels last season. Hit 17-of-19 free throws in that contest and shot .806 from the line for the season. Named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Defensive team for the second consecutive season. He finished sixth on the school's all-time scoring list, third in steals and sixth in career assists.

    LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Second-round pick.

    COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Lindsey Hunter

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Shammond Williams

ROLE PROJECTION: Combo guard off the bench.

POSITIVES: Dowdell is a physical specimen who can measure up athletically against stronger NBA guards. He has excellent lateral movement and has a long track record of being able to keep his man in front of him. Dowdell is a very aggressive defender who racked up a lot of steals in college, more by stripping his man of the ball than by playing the passing lanes. He has the ability to make medium-range jump shots in the flow of the offense.
