He has excellent lateral movement and has a long track record of being able to keep his man in front of him. Dowdell is a very aggressive defender who racked up a lot of steals in college, more by stripping his man of the ball than by playing the passing lanes. He has the ability to make medium-range jump shots in the flow of the offense.
