Mettenberger passed for 273 yards and two touchdowns, and LSU (No. 7 BCS, No. 9 AP) kept alive faint hope of a Southeastern Conference title with a 37-17 victory over Mississippi State (No. 21 BCS, No. 22 AP) on Saturday night.
