He pitched about as well tonight as Ive ever seen him. He surrendered 1 hit and no walks over 8 innings and at one point retired 21 straight Reds. He was removed at the start of the 9th because of his pitch count(103), but Im guessing that is related to his recent DL stint and Lou not wanting to tax him too much going into the break....btw, he batted for himself in top of the 9th but then left the game without pitching, which means Lou choose to let him hit instead of a pinch hitter, despite the fact that he was leaving the game, and it paid off because he ripped a single right back up the middle....
