    About

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a regular golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It is played annually in New Orleans, Louisiana; its historic date has been in April, but was moved to March in 2008. Zurich Financial Services is the main sponsor of the tournament.

From the event's inception through 2004, it was played at a series of courses in New Orleans. It began at New Orleans City Park, where it was played until 1962. From 1963 until 1988, the event began its lengthy relationship with Lakewood Country Club before shifting to English Turn Golf & Country Club from 1989–2004. In 2005, it was played at the TPC of Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, but damage done to the course by Hurricane Katrina forced the event back to English Turn G&CC in 2006. It returned to the TPC of Louisiana in 2007.

Dufner first to post a number in New Orleans

Jason Dufner carded a 5-under-par 34-33=67 in his opening round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

Considering that Dufner has yet to post a single top 15 despite cashing in nine of 10 starts entering this week, an argument could be waged that he overachieved in 2009, when he finished 10th in FedExCup Points. Perhaps he pushes back at TPC Louisiana, where he dropped a field-high seven birdies today, including five on his back side. His longest birdie putt came at the 16th hole, where he rolled it in from 29'1", and he's the very early clubhouse leader. This is the first event of the 2010 with as many as 156 golfers in the field and just one course in play.

Owen in the frame in New Orleans

A strong finish from Greg Owen put the Englishman in contention at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans but Sergio Garcia is facing a fight to avoid a second missed cut in a row at TPC Louisiana.

Owen, who was joint leader halfway through last week's Verizon Heritage before falling down the leaderboard over the weekend, fired an opening five-under-par 67 at Avondale.

Zurich Classic of New Orleans' second round to continue Saturday

Mother Nature interrupted the second round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans on Friday afternoon as a band of thunderstorms dumped torrential rain and lightning on TPC Louisiana, forcing PGA Tour officials to suspend play at 12:57 p.m.

Tommy Armour III misses the cut at the Zurich Classic

Tommy Armour III played 36 holes of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 5-over-par 73-76=149, missing the cut by six swings.

Had the 50-year-old known that the weather would have moved in early on Friday instead of originally forecast, it's not a stretch to think that he might have withdrawn before his opening round tee time for two reasons. First, since having back surgery last June, he's been selective about where he plays, opting not to tee it up in trying conditions. Second, now that he's on a Minor Medical Extension, this is a precious lost opportunity. He's on record as wanting to play the PGA TOUR as long as he can, but he's down to five starts on his extension to earn $148,247 and get elevated to the Major Medical category. It's noteworthy to mention that he's already qualified for conditional status for the remainder of the year should he fall short of the terms of the medical.

Jason Bohn captures 2010 Zurich Classic of New Orleans

This is Bohn's second victory on the PGA Tour and the first since 2005 when he won the B.C. Open.

Bohn who had his 37th birthday on Saturday gave himself a great present by holding off Jeff Overton who had a 6-under 66 final round to go 16-under for the tournament and tied Bohn twice on Sunday for the lead but Bohn's three birdies in the final 9-holes were to much to overcome.
