ProElite, the parent company of now-defunct mixed martial arts
promotion EliteXC, is fighting to keep the cable television network
Showtime from auctioning-off its remaining assets. At the same time the
California State Athletic Commission has pulled the promotion licenses
from the company and from their partner King of the Cage, effectively
driving the final nail into ProElite's coffin. But ProElite isn't
laying down peacefully--yet.
ProElite's main assets up for grabs are the competition contracts of
their popular fighters. Contracts for EliteXC superstars Kimbo Slice
and Gina Carano are on the block, as well as contracts for champions
Jake Shields, Antonio Silva, and Robbie Lawler. Also up for grabs are
EliteXC's video and photograph library, as well as EliteXC's home video
series on DVD.
Rival mixed martial arts promotions including the Ultimate Fighting
Championship (UFC) and Affliction MMA haven't announced their
intentions yet but it is assumed that both companies will be interested
in EliteXC's talent roster. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is likely
to purchase EliteXC's library for his HDNet cable television channel,
having purchased the library of 2008's other defunct MMA promotion
International Fight League (IFL) last month.

The Chicago Bulls take on the Dallas Mavericks in Minnesota tonight at 7 PM CT.
The Bulls are entering the game at 2-4 in preseason play. Last night, the Bulls came back from 23 down to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 109-105. Derrick Rose scored 30 points and had 7 assists.
The Timberwolves enter the game at 5-1 in preseason play. The Timberwolves defeated the Denver Nuggets 111 to 107 on Sunday. Randy Foye had an impressive 12 point and 15 assist performance.
In the Bulls first game against the Timberwolves in the preaseason, the Bulls gave up a 15 point lead at the end of the first quarter, and fell to the Timberwolves 96 to 86. Derrick Rose had 9 points and 7 assists in this game, Drew Gooden had 20 points, and Nocioni added in 18 points. The Timberwolves were led by Corey Brewer's 15 point 9 rebound game.
Ben Gordon is expected to play tonight. Vinny Del Negro held Gordon out of yesterday's game despite Gordon saying he wanted to play. There is a small chance that Vinny keeps Gordon out of tonight's game as well.
The game is at 7:00 PM on CSN-Chicago.

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Dallas Mavericks 109-105 tonight after coming back from 23 points down.
The Bulls were powered by Derrick Rose who had an impressive 30 points and 7 assist game. No one on the Mavericks could stop Rose, who came off the bench as Del Negro favored a starting backcourt of Kirk Hinrich and Larry Hughes for tonight's game.
The Mavericks would have won this game if Carlisle did not put in the scrubs. Dirk Nowitzki was dominant, scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds. Gerald Green again lit up the Bulls, scoring 19 points.
Andres Nocioni had another good game, scoring 14 points and grabbing 5 rebounds. This was nearly identical top line stats to that of Luol Deng, who had 14 points and 6 rebounds, but Andres Nocioni shot the ball much more efficiently. If this trend continues, Del Negro will have to consider starting Nocioni over Deng for the good of the team.
Tyrus Thomas had another solid game, scoring 10 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and blocking 5 shots.
Kirk Hinrich and Larry Hughes were lackluster once again. Hinrich had 7 points and 4 assists. Hughes had 13 points on 4-14 shooting. Sefolosha was also a non factor.
It should becoming pretty clear to Del Negro that Derrick Rose and Ben Gordon should be the starting backcourt. The talent gap between Rose and Gordon compared to Hughes, Hinrich, and Sefolosha is just too large to justify any other pairing.

The Chicago Bulls take on the Dallas Mavericks in Dallas tonight at 7:30 PM.
The Bulls enter the game 1-4 in preseason play after splitting a back to back set with the Utah Jazz. The Bulls won the first game against the Jazz as a result of Ben Gordon's clutch play. That was the only game Gordon has played in, and so far is the Bulls' only win.
The Mavericks enter this game at 4-2, and they are looking strong. They are coming off of a 124-109 victory over the Sacramento Kings in which Gerald Green scored 29 points.
The Mavericks beat the Bulls 110-102 in the Bulls' first game of this year's preseason. Gerald Green, again had a strong game, scoring 18 points. Aaron Gray had 14 points and 9 rebounds.
The Bulls are expected to have their full roster for the first time of the preseason. It will be the first chance that fans get to see how Del Negro will handle the guard logjam.
Statistically, Larry Hughes, Thabo Sefolosha, and Kirk Hinrich have performed so poorly in preseason thus far in preseason that they should not be getting a single minute on an NBA court. Larry Hughes' and Thabo Sefolosha's struggles are just following trends regarding the players from the past few years, but Kirk Hinrich's continuing struggles is surprising. It looks like Hinrich just isn't cut out to be an NBA shooting guard.
So statistically speaking, Derrick Rose and Ben Gordon should be the starting back court. The Bulls will only be wasting Derrick Rose's great passing talent by surrounding him with poor offensive talent who cannot convert on his passes.
Ben Gordon definitely wants a starting spot, but he vows that he will do whatever it takes to help the team. It is unclear to Gordon how Del Negro will use him, as the great communicator hasn't quite communicated well with Gordon.

The Chicago Bulls announced today via a press release that they have cut Elton Brown and Darius Washington. Below is the press release the Bulls sent out:
October 20, 2008 – The Chicago Bulls announced today the team has waived forward Elton Brown and guard Darius Washington.
Brown (6-9, 250) appeared in two preseason games with the Bulls and averaged 2.5 ppg and 2.0 rpg in 8.0 mpg. He participated in the 2008 Vegas Summer League with the Denver Nuggets, averaging a double-double, posting 13.4 ppg and 10.0 rpg in five appearances. Brown, who played in 120 games in four seasons at the University of Virginia, spent the 2007.08 season playing for both the Colorado 14ers (D-League) and for Hapoel Holon (Israel-Premier League).
Washington (6-2, 195) saw action in two preseason games and averaged 8.0 ppg in 13.0 mpg. He was on the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2008 summer league roster and tallied averages of 9.6 ppg, 3.4 apg, 3.0 rpg in five appearances. Washington, who played two seasons at the University of Memphis, saw action in 18 games with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2007.08 season, averaging 2.9 ppg and 1.1 rpg.
Chicago’s preseason roster now stands at 15.

The Chicago Bulls fell to the Utah Jazz 88 to 80 in a very ugly game.
Deron Williams left the game after falling down very awkwardly. Williams had to leave the game on crutches after spraining his left ankle.
The Bulls were without Ben Gordon again tonight. The Bulls did not want to risk Gordon aggravating his injured toe by playing in the second of back to back games. The Bulls are now 0-4 in the preseason when Gordon sits out. The Bulls are undefeated when Gordon plays.
Derrick Rose had his first poor game of the preseason. He finished with 11 points on 4-14 shooting with only 2 assists. A lot of Rose's problems tonight came from the players around him playing so pathetically.
Luol Deng put up another stinker, only scoring 6 points. Andres Nocioni, who was plagued with foul trouble, also only had 6 points. Vinny Del Negro might have to consider starting Nocioni over Deng in a few of these preseason games to send a message to Deng, who is playing horribly since inking his $80 million deal.
Kirk Hinrich and Larry Hughes continue to make the case for why Ben Gordon should start. Hinrich had 8 points and 5 assists, while Hughes scored 10 points. Their combined 18 points and 5 assists is less production than Gordon had the night before by himself. (Gordon had 23 points and 5 assists in last night's Bulls win over the Jazz).
Thabo Sefolosha is on his way to being banished to the bench for the season. He had a 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 game in 13 minutes of play. Sefolosha did absolutely nothing on the court outside of missing three shots.
Tyrus Thomas had a pretty good game, finishing with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Although Carlos Boozer got the best of him, finishing with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
The Bulls had a lot of trouble stopping Andrei Kirilenko, who scored 18 points, dished 5 assists, and blocked 3 shots.
The Bulls next game is on Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

The Chicago Bulls take on the Utah Jazz at 7:30 PM tonight at the United Center.
The Bulls are entering the game with a 1-3 record. The Jazz are coming in with a 2-3 record.
This game is the second of a back to back. The Bulls edged out the Jazz 108-105. The Bulls were powered by the great three point shooting of Ben Gordon and Andres Nocioni. Both finished 4-8 on their three point field goal attempts. Gordon finished the game with 23 points in his 2008-2009 preseason debut, and Nocioni scored 20.
Derrick Rose looked impressive against Deron Williams, putting up 14 points and 5 assists, although Deron Williams was even better. Williams finished with 14 points and 9 assists.
Larry Hughes, Michael Ruffin, and Demetris Nichols are questionable for tonight's game.
Derrick Rose, who left yesterday's game with cramps, is expected to play.
Ben Gordon, who made his preseason debut last night, is not expected to play. Gordon may not want to push himself in back to back games. But their is still a small chance that Gordon plays, and if his toe felt fine during yesterday's game, he will probably play again today.
The game is at 7:30 PM on WGN - America.

The Chicago Bulls got their first win of the preseason with a 108-105 win over the Utah Jazz.
The Bulls were powered by the return of their star shooting guard, Ben Gordon. Gordon started off well, making his first two shots, one a three pointer off of a Derrick Rose assist, but he then struggled for a bit, getting a few of his shots blocked. Come 4th quarter time, Gordon proved that he was still the Gordon of old, and scored 13 points in the fourth quarter. Gordon finished with 23 points and 5 assists.
Andres Nocioni was also good in the fourth quarter, scoring 8 of his 20 points in the fourth.
Both Gordon and Nocioni are going to be effective next to Rose all season long, and should be expected to have big roles. These two and Demetris Nichols are the only players who can be consistent three point threats for the Bulls.
Derrick Rose had another solid game. Rose finished with 14 points and 5 assists in 23 minutes. While Rose has yet to break out for an overwhelmingly good game, he has been consistently good in all of our games. With the Bulls up and down play in past seasons, a guy who comes in and plays well every game like Rose has thus far, will help the team greatly. If the guy is this good already, how good is he going to be by the end of the season? Three years from now?
It should becoming abundantly clear that the Bulls do not have a guard logjam. The Bulls have two guards, Derrick Rose and Ben Gordon, who are overwhelmingly better than the rest of the guards. Rose and Gordon should get the 34+ minutes each at the guard positions, and Hinrich and Hughes should fight for the remaining minutes in the backcourt.
The front court continues to be the Bulls biggest problem. Tyrus Thomas finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds despite some erratic play. Drew Gooden completely disappeared after his 20 point and 8 rebound game, only scoring 4 points. The Bulls front court also put on display their weak interior defense again.

The Chicago Bulls take on the Utah Jazz at 7:30 PM at Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL.
This game will will serve as Deron Williams' homecoming to the University of Illinois. In 2005, Deron Williams took the Fighting Illini to the NCAA Final Four.
The Bulls signed former Illini Roger Powell for the sole purpose of giving the fans in Champaign another treat during the game.
The Bulls come into today's game looking for their first win of the preseason. They are currently sitting at 0-3 after a 96-86 loss to Minnesota. The Bulls had a 17 point lead early in the game, but blew the lead in the second quarter.
The Jazz enter the game at 2-2. On Wednesday, the Jazz fell to the Denver Nuggets 120-119 in an overtime thriller. Deron Williams finished this game with 22 points, 8 assists, and 5 steals.
In the Bulls last game against Minnesota, Drew Gooden and Andres Nocioni broke out for big games. Drew Gooden finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Andres Nocioni, who was the recipient of many of Rose's great passes scored 18 points on 7-10 shooting. Luol Deng again struggled in the game against Minnesota.
Ben Gordon and Larry Hughes are questionable for tonight's game. Ben Gordon was injured when he stubbed his toe on a piece of furniture in his house. Larry Hughes has a bruise on his right hand.
According to the AthletiCo injury report, Demetris Nichols is questionable with a right calf strain and Cedric Simmons is questionable with a left ankle sprain. Michael Ruffin will likely sit this game out as he is still recovering from his left ankle sprain.
The game is at 7:30 and will be broadcast on CSN-Chicago.

Luol Deng will return to the Chicago Bulls for his 5th season in the NBA and with the Chicago Bulls after signing a new contract with the Bulls this summer.
Things didn't always look like they would go well in the Deng negotiations. In mid-July, Luol Deng gave the Bulls an ultimatum. Deng reportedly told the Bulls sign me, or I am taking the qualifying offer and not negotiating with you [The Bulls] next summer. Then two days later, a Greek news source broke a story that stated that the Greek club, Olympiakos, had offered Luol Deng a $23 million over 2 year deal, which Manouselis, the Olympiakos general manager, later refuted.
In he end, Luol Deng agreed to a $71 million contract, that could be worth as much as $80 million after incentives with the Bulls.
Deng then went on to spend the summer under the tutelage of Chris Finch, playing for Chris Finch, for the Great Britain National Team. (Dabullz.com Great Britain National Team Coverage) For awhile, it looked like Deng may never play for Great Britain because of an insurance issue. Deng's back was one of MetLife's 14 body part exclusions. Eventually, Deng was cleared to play after Great Britain officials came up with $500,000 to pay for supplemental insurance.

The Chicago Bulls fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves 96-86 in preseason play. This is the Bulls third straight loss and they now are 0-3 in preseason play. Minnesota improved to 3-1 this preseason.
The Bulls jumped out to an early lead, finishing the first quarter with a 30-13 lead. The Timberwolves went on a 23-5 run at the end of the second quarter and ended the half with a 46-45 lead.
It was smooth sailing for Minnesota after that. The Bulls were able to bring the game within 2 late in the fourth, but Minnesota finished the game on a 10-3 run to beat the Bulls.
Derrick Rose, who came off the bench, was impressive, scoring 9 points and dishing 7 assists. Rose connected with Andres Nocioni multiple times for threes. Nocioni was able to make use of Rose's great passing by just catching and shooting the ball, rather than taking a dribble before shooting, as Stacey King alluded to during the broadcast. Nocioni finished with 18 points.
Drew Gooden was also impressive, scoring 20 points and grabbing 8 rebounds.
Luol Deng came on strong to start the game, scoring 8 points in the first quarter. However, Deng fell apart as the game went on, and shot 5-14 overall in the game. Deng has yet to get anything going so far in this preseason. It is becoming clear that Deng isn't cut out to be a first option in the NBA. Deng could easily find himself as the fourth option on offense, behind Derrick Rose, Ben Gordon, and Drew Gooden.
For the first time in preseason, Aaron Gray had a poor showing. He did set some nice screens for Rose in the second quarter, but didn't do a lot of other positive things on the court. Gray finished with 0 points and 0 rebounds. Gray came into the game as the Bulls' leading scorer and rebounder in preseason play.
For Minnesota, Corey Brewer had 15 points and 9 rebounds. Al Jefferson chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Thabo Sefolosha is entering his third season in the NBA and his third season with the Chicago Bulls. Sefolosha was taken 13th in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers and was traded to the Bulls for the rights to Rodney Carney.
The Bulls drafted Sefolosha with plans of him being the big guard that makes the Kirk Hinrich and Ben Gordon backcourt work. Sefolosha provided decent athleticism and great length with his long arms. He showed the promise of why the Bulls drafted him in the 2007 playoffs, when he came into a playoff game and overwhelmed Dwyane Wade with his size. Sefolosha also has had some success guarding Kobe Bryant.
It looked like Sefolosha was on route to being out of the NBA after his second season, but an injury to Gordon gave Sefolosha the opening he needed. Sefolosha put up a strong February averaging 12.3 PPG 5.3 RPG and 3.1 APG in 31 minutes, while shooting 47.1 FG%. Sefolsoha wasn't great during this time period, but he was very solid, which is exactly what the Bulls need out of him.
Bulls fans should have no illusions, Thabo Sefolosha is not a quality starter in the NBA on any team. His scoring efficiency has been pathetic his first two years in the league, although he did improve quite a bit from year one to year two. Thabo Sefolosha substantially hurts the Bulls offensively when he is on the court. On the defensive end of the court, Sefolosha wasn't that great last year either. Sefolosha, like the other wings and guards on the team last year wasn't good as a whole defensively, although he showed some flashes of great defense. It also doesn't make a lot of sense to start Sefolosha next to Derrick Rose, as the Bulls will want a great shooter next to Rose.

The Chicago Bulls take on the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at 7:30 PM at the United Center.
The Bulls enter the game at 0-2 in preseason play. The Bulls started off the preseason with a 110-102 loss to the Dallas Mavericks followed by a 102-95 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
The T'Wolves enter the game at 2-1 in preseason play. They easily dismantled the Bucks in their first game, 117-79 and followed that up with a 88-82 win against the Thunder. They got blown out by the Nuggets in their last game, 118-95.
The Bulls split the season series with Minnesota. The two teams played back to back games at the end of January.
The Bulls won the first game, powered by a surprisingly strong game from Kirk Hinrich, who finished with 27 points. Al Jefferson had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Minnesota.
Minnesota embarassed the Bulls in the second game, winning 83-67. Al Jefferson had 26 points and 20 rebounds and Ryan Gomes helped him out, chipping in 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Ben Gordon did not play in either game against Minnesota last year.
Aaron Gray will try to continue making his case for why he should be the Bulls' starting center. Gray is leading the Bulls in scoring and rebounding so far, with averages of 13.5 PPG and 10.0 RPG.
Joakim Noah is expected to make his preseason debut, wearing goggles. Andres Nocioni is expected to play, even though he has been irritated with tendinitis in his knee. Ben Gordon is not expected to play tonight, and will likely miss his third straight game.
The game will be on CSN-Chicago at 7:30 PM.

Aaron Gray is entering his 2nd season in the NBA and his 2nd season with the Chicago Bulls. Gray came to the Bulls in 2007 as the 49th pick in the NBA Draft, and looked to be a late draft surprise after a strong showing in the Orlando Pro Summer League and the Rocky Mountain Revue Summer League.
In his rookie season, Gray finished with averages of 4.3 PPG and 2.8 RPG in 10 MPG. While Gray's season stats are underwhelming, he showed flashes of impressiveness when he logged big minutes. In December, Gray had back to back games where he scored in double figures. In the first of these games, Gray had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against the Washington Wizards. In the second, Gray had 14 points and 6 rebounds against the Boston Celtics. Gray finished the season with a very impressive 19 point and 22 rebound game against the Toronto Raptors.
Gray averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds in the 4 games where he played over 20 minutes.
Last season, Gray came on strong in preseason, leading to murmurs that Gray could have become the starting center next to Ben Wallace to start the season. Skiles shied away from using Gray, even though the young core of the team requested that Gray play more. Skiles finally relented and gave Gray more burn in the 4 games preceding his firing.
Gray kind of got lost in the shuffle during the middle part of the season, and began
to put back on weight. Gray did reemerge as a bit of a force in April. Gray addressed the weight issue during the offseason, dropping 25 pounds.

Guaranteed money
The Bulls $69.84M in salary heading into the year, with 12 players
under guaranteed contracts and $100,000 of “dead money” paid to the
waived JamesOn Curry. This gives them $2.01M remaining in salary before
they hit the luxury tax threshold (of $71.15M)
Final Roster Spots
NBA Rules require that the Bulls keep 14 players on their roster, so
they will keep around at least two of the following guys on
non-guaranteed contracts:
Michael Ruffin ($798k)
Demetris Nichols ($712k)
Roger Powell ($712k)
Darius Washington ($712k)
Elton Brown ($442k)
At a minimum, they could keep Brown and one of the $712K guys and they would remain $859k below the luxury tax threshold.
At maximum, they can keep 15 players, but if they do so, one of them
must be Brown in order to stay under the tax (they could keep and two
of Ruffin, Nichols, Powell, and Washington) and then Brown and stay
under the tax by a mere $61k (that’s close since it’s quite possible
our guesses at other players’ salaries might be off by that much). So
at most they can keep two out of Ruffin, Nichols, Powell, and
Washington. Keeping three of them would put the Bulls over the luxury
tax threshold.
Hence, finances affect the decision here, but not by a whole lot.
Trade thoughts for this season
While the Bulls have significant questions regarding personnel going
forward (and not just about Michael Ruffin), there’s probably not a lot
that can be done about it. Finance is going to dictate personnel.
No matter how the final roster spots shake out, the Bulls will be
pretty close to the LT threshold. In effect, this will impose a pretty
strict limit on the Bulls if they try to make a trade. While the NBA
rules will allow a team to take back up to 125% + $100k of the salary

Tyson Chandler wrote in his most recent blog entry about his experience of meeting Barack Obama at an Obama rally he attended with teammate Morris Peterson. It is a well written blog post, so everyone should check it out. Obama opened up the door for Chandler to come back to the Bulls.
Here's an excerpt of the blog post:
I was sitting at the rally yesterday and I saw this older black gentleman with a camcorder. He had grey hair and he was recording it. I was just watching him and he looked so proud. It looked like he was gonna record it and go back, show his grandchildren and say "I was here on this day."

Ben Gordon is now entering his 5th season in the NBA and with the Chicago Bulls. Once again, the Bulls failed to reach a long term deal with Gordon, who will return to the Bulls this season on the qualifying offer.
It has been a rumor filled summer surrounding Ben Gordon. At the end of July, Ben Gordon stated that Europe is now an option for him, amidst rumors of Olymiakos offering Luol Deng and Ben Gordon large offers. Later that day, Manos Manouselis admitted to sending overtures to the agents of Gordon and Deng, but said that they never made any contract offer.

The Golden State Warriors are punishing Monta Ellis not long after they rewarded him.
The Warriors will have to wait to reap the benefits of a six-year, $66 million deal they signed Ellis to this offseason after suspending the guard for 30 games without pay for violating terms of his contract.
Ellis, who injured his ankle in a moped accident in August, initially told the Warriors the injury occurred playing pickup basketball in his hometown of Jackson, Miss. Multiple league sources told ESPN.com that Ellis had several cuts and abrasions on his leg -- atypical of an injury sustained on a basketball court -- in addition to the high ankle sprain and torn deltoid ligament he suffered on Aug. 21. The nature of the injury raised flags and led the Warriors to investigate the matter.
The Warriors counted their four preseason games in the suspension's length, which means Ellis won't return to the club until after Golden State's 26th regular-season game, against Indiana on Dec. 17.
"The cooperation that we received from Jeff Fried [Monta's representative] enabled us to be very diligent in collecting all of the facts surrounding the incident," Rowell said. "This 30-game suspension is a result of that. From this point forward, it is the complete focus of everyone involved to provide Monta with all the support he needs to have a successful rehabilitation, and to get him back on the court as an integral part of this team."
Ellis recently underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament, sidelining him for at least the first several weeks of the regular season.

A reader tells us that KSHB in Kansas City is reporting that Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez has requested a trade, and that one of the teams in the running is the New York Gootball Fiants. (It’s an inside joke that you’ll understand only if you check the site every day, multiple times per day.)
Though we haven’t confirmed that KSHB is reporting this information, we’ve learned separately that, indeed, an effort is afoot to move Gonzalez out of Kansas City.
The trade deadline is October 14 at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
Stay tuned.

The Chicago Bulls fell to the Indiana Pacers 102-95 tonight. The Bulls are now 0-2 in preseason play.
Derrick Rose again showed flashes of brilliance. He ended the game with 13 points and 6 assists in 30 minutes. Derrick Rose was again able to blow past his man at will, and be an effective scorer. In the 4th quarter, Rose even hit a three point shot. However, Rose also missed two three point shots late in the fourth quarter pretty badly. He leaned into the shot, and showed awful shooting mechanics on those long range bombs.
T.J. Ford carved up the Bulls for 18 points. Ford put the game out of reach to the Bulls, driving past Rose, and drawing a foul on Sefolosha on his way to an and one. This put the game at 98-92 and out of reach for the Bulls.
Brandon Rush took advantage of some poor perimeter defense of the Bulls for 18 points on 7-9 shooting. This is similar to when his brother, Kareem Rush, took advantage of Hinrich's poor defense in a game last year against the Bulls.

The Chicago Bulls take on division rival, the Indiana Pacers today at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, IN.
The Bulls are coming off of a 110-102 loss against the Dallas Mavericks. The Pacers are coming off of a 105-71 slaughtering at the hands of the Hornets.
The Pacers have a new look to them, after trading Jermaine O'neal for T.J. Ford during the summer. They also have brought in Brandon Rush and Roy Hibbert via the draft.
The Bulls lost to the Pacers last year 117-102 in one of the December games leading up to Skiles' firing. Kareem Rush took advantage of Hinrich's poor defense for 22 points on 9-13 shooting.
The Bulls then beat the Pacers in January, 108-95. Kirk Hinrich broke out of his slump of a season for just one game, to put up an eye popping 38 points and 10 assists.
In their first game against the Pacers after the Wallace trade, the Bulls came out with a 113-107 victory over the Pacers, powered by Larry Hughes' 29 points and Drew Gooden's 15 rebounds.

The Chicago Bulls lost to the Dallas Mavericks in their preseason debut, 110-102.
The Bulls were without Ben Gordon, who was out with a toe injury and Joakim Noah, who was out with any eye injury.
Dallas jumped off to a quick start, leading the Bulls 36-22 after the first quarter. The Bulls fought back early in the 3rd quarter, going on a 10-0 run, but the Mavericks were able to stave off the Bulls for the victory.
Derrick Rose was shaky in his preseason debut, finishing with 10 points 5 assists and 6 turnovers. Point guard is generally the hardest position for a rookie to master, so early struggles are to be expected.
Luol Deng had a solid game, scoring 14 points in 25 minutes. Gooden also chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds in 18 minutes.
For the Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki scored 15 points. Gerald Green led all scorers with 18 points.
The star of the game for the Bulls was second year center, Aaron Gray. Gray scored 14 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, and blocked 2 shots in 23 minutes of play. Gray still has some foul trouble, but when he was on the court, he was productive.
