Eagles fans(and anyone else), how do you think the team looks like so far? Are we good, are we destined for another losing record? Which player impressed you the most? Which player impressed you the least? What is our biggest strength? What is our biggest weakness?

    Heh...

I was able to catch some of last night's game. Not overly impressed by the team. Andy Reid still doesn't know that you can run the ball in the NFL, and it pisses me off. Our receivers are nothing special, but Desean Jackson has been looking great. He's probably the most impressive player so for, or at least in my opinion. He looks like the best receiver on the team, which in some ways is dissapointing, because it doesn't say a lot about our receivers. But who knows, maybe he can surprise us and turn into a #1 receiver?

I'm also pretty impressed with Tony Hunt. He got minutes yesterday and made the most out of it

Not sure who I'm dissapointed in. Probably Samuels because he still hasn't stepped on the field, and Reid, because like every year, it's the same story. Pass pass pass pass pass.

Our biggest strength will probably be our secondary. If everyone can stay healthy, we will easily have one of the best secondaries in the league

Biggest weakness is special teams and passing the ball too much

I missed the game because I was stuck in the airport.

IMO, if LT has the decline season some people are predicting, Westbrook has a shot to win MVP.

I think the team looks pretty solid. Asante Samuel was a nice grab, and some consider Takeo and Kearse big losses but they were old and washed up; they're names more than talents.

I wasn't really disappointed in any players; it's the preseason. I'm disappointed in Reid more than anything. I was watching McNabb in the Steelers game. He was throwing high balls, low balls, and he was nothing like he used to be. Hopefully this year he stays healthy and looks better in the season.

Our biggest strength is our versatility in the running back position, or possibly the flexibility in corner back. Our biggest weakness is fragility. If that's even a word; injuries have destroyed the Eagles in the past few years. If we can stay healthy, I look for an 11-5 record, Divisional Round playoffs, wild-card playoff entry. I don't think we have a chance for a super bowl run.

I always give the MVP edge to quarterbacks (especially "fresh" faces like Romo).

Plus the RBs who've earned the MVP recently are TD stat whores, or Barry Sanders. ^_^

The people who win MVP are almost always QB or RB, probably more QBs but there are still a lot of RBs.

Romo? Why would you mention Tony Romo as an MVP example in a Philadelphia Eagles board? I seriously doubt Romo will get MVP. It's too early to tell, so I'm making no predictions.

The Rbs that have won recently were 23+ TD types. For some reason the media tends to gravitate to that type of empirical total. Westbrook doesn't seem like the kind of guy that can achieve that.

Why Romo? Because he puts up big stats, is in a huge market, and people like to pass MVPs around. I don't necessarily approve of this though, just being honest.

No way Romo wins MVP. I actually think there's a chance the Cowboys might slip out of the playoffs altogether, given how every team in that division is just dynamite.

    No way? Why not?

If Manning/Brady declines for whatever reason, I could easily see Romo winning it, the Cowboys are popular as hell.

That's the thing. Manning and Brady won't decline, they're too good and they have all the pieces around them to keep them from declining (receivers, o-line, backs, etc.). Romo's not on their level anyway.

I agree with you but the Cowboys have a damn good team around him.

I'm not guaranteeing anything, but I could definitely see an MVP run in the regular season.

Marshall Faulk wasn't a 25+ TD RB, IIRC. You're really only thinking L.T. and Shaun. Westbrook can get a good 10 or 12 on the ground and 5 or 6 receiving, I'd say. Then a good 12 - 13 hundred yards rushing.

Davis had 21 TDs in '98. Faulk had 18 and 12 in '00 and '01. Lewis had 14 in '03.

I wasn't asking for justification on Romo's MVP. He's talented. I'm asking you why you'd post that in a Philadelphia Eagles board.

Wilde, we're pretty open with other fans coming into boards outside of their own, and discussing things. Huevon was just stating who he thought had a chance to win MVP, in response to my statement.

Well for reference I was only talking about the Associated Press MVP, the "official" one. I never said I was basing my claims solely off Rush TDs.

Lewis won the MVP in 2003? No.

Faulk had 26 Total TDs in his MVP year (and 21 combined in that other year you mentioned). Davis was the only MVP who didn't fall into my "25+" category, and he had 23 total TDs by the way. I don't see the big deal, that number was just a great indicator off the top of my head.

The most combined TDs Westbrook has ever had is 12, hence my previous comments.

Because War Poet mentioned who he believes will win the MVP, and I provided a simple retort.

I was talking about rushing TDs, but I concede to your point.

At the same time, I'm not saying other fans are not welcome. As serious as I was and am, it was more of a joke -- Romo is a Dallas Cowboy. Arguably the most hated team for Eagles fans, and he's arguably the most hated player. :p

    Cheers.

How is Romo more hated than Owens?

    Meh.

I pray Reid never figures out to run the ball with Westbrook. The last I want to see is Westbrook getting 20 carries a game. Dude is sick.

As for the thread... I am not sure what to expect from the Eagles; or really, from this division, for that matter. Its deep. Its tough. And its going to be brutal.

The Eagles have experience at QB; a great RB, a veteran OL, a great DE in Cole... and they'll be in the mix for the division title.
