12 team h2h $ league QB: Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers RB: Brian Westbrook, Ronnie Brown, LenDale White, Kevin Jones, Aaron Stecker WR: Calvin Johnson, Patrick Crayton, Donte Stallworth, Ted Ginn Jr, Jabar Gaffney, Brandon Stokley TE: Jeromy Shockey, Bubba Franks D: Baltimore K: Ryan Longwell I waited a little too long on WR, but I tried to pick sleeper guys that could have breakout seasons. I was stupid and picked Rivers as a backup before realizing NO and SD have the same bye week. I'm hoping Rivers tears it up and people try to trade for him.
Is this a yahoo league that starts three Wideouts? Personally I think you could cut a WR (Ginn or Stokley comes to mind), I'm not sure that you really need Franks right now either. Another solid team, S2 people seem to draft well in general.
The starting positions are QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, WR/TE, WR/RB, K, D. So I'm starting 3 WRs. I wanted to load up on them and decide later on which to stick with. I have Franks because I think him and his old pal Brett might reconnect for a ton of TDs like old times.
~Ah an ESPN type of affair? Well that does change my analysis then. However, I think you should still dump Franks, he hasn't done anything in three years (played only for GB that time too). Even if he does produce to a degree you're probably better off starting another Wideout. It is not worth carrying Franks just for Shockey's bye week, when that time comes, then grab some random TE. ~Deuce McAllister is still ahead of Stecker on the depth chart so watch out for that. I'm not that high on Kevin Jones either, with that terrible offense and timeshare he is in. ~The rest of your bench is quite adequate though.
Well, it's on yahoo. And you're probably right about Franks, but the more I look at the available players, the more I realize that everything left is garbage. On Stecker, isn't McAllister supposed to be hurt? I had heard he wouldn't be back til week 6 or so, so I picked Stecker as a rental. On Jones, he was the BRBA at the time of pick, with 12 people picking 3 starting RBs, there's really nothing left after that. I actually think Jones will be better than most people's 3rd starter in my league.
The margin by which he'll outproduce that garbage, will be very minimal. It is almost like carrying two kickers. He's played in two straight preseason games, and will play again on Thursday against the Dolphins. Stecker might work out for you since Deuce has been injury prone over the last three years, but you need to be cautious. Deuce is a legit threat when healthy and should compete with Bush. When I have to deal with these kind of depth problems, I just jump from RB to RB based on favorable match-ups that specific week. I don't really waste time on people like Jones until they show some decent consistency. I suppose there's no real reason to drop him yet though.
I just looked up Deuce and realized he's been playing so I dropped him for Maurice Morris. I also dropped Franks for Pennington.
I like the substitution you made for Morris. I understand your Bye Week situation, so I don't want to get too picky about that. Don't be afraid to opt instead for a QB playing a soft defense week 9, though.
