Wasn't a quitter? What was there to quit on?

As I said, meaningless games are Vince's meat. He should have a great statistical '08-'09 season.

So you are saying that any time the Nets lose a game, it automatically means Vince didn't do whatever it takes

    No, he wasn't a quitter.
What was there to quit on? The rest of his team, some which were new teammates, who were looking for him for some type of guidance on and off the court. But he went a different route.
Would RJ do the same if he was in the same position? Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
I'm confused. You said before he shouldn't have even played the last 5 games of the season, i.e. quit for the rest of the season/shut it down. Now you're saying that he wasn't a quitter and asking what there was to quit on.

I don't know how long ago Phil made this comment but if Vince really is taking this personally...I feel--just more fuel to the fire.

With all the predictions goin around that the nets are gonna suck next year....maybe they will step it up enough to make the playoff.

but like every other person on this board...i'm just hoping.

we do have some nice talent that I do believe wants to really really prove themselves.

The Vince debate has long since become theological for some...with articles of faith, high priest, original sin, and demons, etc.

    It's tiresome.

He has played well for the Nets since being acquired. He's had at least three good regular seasons, and two good playoffs. In the 27 playoff games he has played as a Net, Carter has averaged: 26.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists. He's gone to the foul line almost nine times a game in those 27 games. His big problem has been a drop off in three point shooting in the playoffs, hitting only 31 per cent. Twice, the Nets went to the second round with him.

Last year, his ankle injury was worse than the one RJ sustained two years ago...so bad in fact that his surgery required him to stay off the court for four months. Yet he missed only six games, five immediately afterwards and one late in the season, on the orders of Tim Walsh. In the last five years, Carter has missed 23 games, an average of four and half games a year. In fact, only one NBA superstar has missed as few games--Kevin Garnett.

Carter is most effective in an offense with a scoring big man. No Carter, no field goal percentage title for Mikki Moore. This will be in an interesting year watching him play with the young bigs.

No, I'm saying he is a quitter, and playing those last meaningless games of last season was not in the best interests of the team.

But, as I said, meaningless games are Vince's meat.

If you don't expect it, why are you disappointed?

    I'm disappointed because he's a Net.

well, best advice I can say is just e-mail Rod Thorn. His e-mail address isn't hard to find.
otherwise, not much else you can do. *shrugs*

Rod never listens to me (see 'Childs, Chris').

And I don't find shrugging enough of a catharsis. I find complaining to be the more satisfying expression of my feelings.

But please, if shrugging is what gets you through the disappointment that has been Vince, then shrug away.

It would be nice, but not necessary. I'd prefer if Devin did that instead. No disrespect, but Vince is not the team's future. With Harris quarterbacking and taking charge, I'd expect a more even distribution of play, which is what the team really needs.

In 20 years, people are going to remember PJax as one of the greatest coaches ever. They'll talk about Vince maybe like we talk about Dominique Wilkins today.

Have you watched Nets basketball? Once Vince gets the ball, he is the Nets' offense.

And you are correct in your statement that Vince IS NOT the Nets' future, which makes it even more irritating and confusing as to why Nets re-signed (and overpaid) the proven dog named Vince Carter.

The way you speak about him indicates you're as obtuse in your manner regarding Carter as the Truthers.

You are entitled to that opinion, but I believed Carter to be a dog when he was a Raptor, when I had no real interest about what he was, and hated when the Nets traded for him, except for the fact that Nets got rid of Mourning.

And I only wanted Mourning gone because Ratner and Thorn were too much the female orifaces to stand up to ZO.

DDM makes that official. What DDM is designed to do is to inflate VC's stats so we can trade him to a contender for a pure shooter plus futures.

If you mean Wally (is he actually still a pure shooter?) and two 1st rounders, that's my hope also.

Your statement is absolutely true, SAD, but true.

I guess it is like anyone that doesnt like their job, but stays because they are either comfortable or getting paid a lot of money.

I hope his passion isnt in music or dancing because he sucks at that too. DID you see VC........... on Dancing with the Stars?

Yeah that would have been cool for the Nets. That would have made Lebron's decision a lot easier.
