Since I am fairly new here.

I just wanted to know. I dont want to waste my time and I would like to avoid discussions about Kidd when discussing other topics.

My point of view on this is:

Yeah this past year Kidd did himself a disservice demanding a trade and questionably not putting a 100% effort. Kidd made this team creditable again especially after the f'en Wannabe-A-Starbury. The years before last, Kidd also lead this team to 2 Finals Appearances.

Am I glad he is gone? Definitely. Thorn and Kiki did a great job getting Harris in return for an aging HOF.

Who cares... it's the past now.

Topic has been discussed ad nauseam. Do a search and let's move on.

    Nice!!!

The only reason why I asked is because people here have different thoughts about and it has been mentioned it in other post recently.

Edit: Act like a civilized person and refrain from calling other posters childish names.

Glad he played for Nets, but it became apparent to me that he was all about himself at the '03 All-Star break.

Great competitor, and didn't go public with his egomaniacy until last season.

Thorn really ripped off Cuban in that deal.

History will vindicate him and show him as the greatest player to play for the Nets in the NBA.

If someday the Nets win a championship, they will look back to 2001 and Jason Kidd when it all turned around.

Wouldn't publicly commit to wanting to play for the Nets in the '03-'04 season (he was about to become a free agent) because Thorn wouldn't fire Byron Scott.

The youngsters had the wind taken out of them, and Nets played poor basketball the rest of the season.

Then Kidd re-signed in '-03-'04 offseason, but punished Thorn by making Nets sign ZO.

Personally, I think Buck Williams was the Nets best NBA player.

And there isn't a whisper of either of those Finals teams left on the Nets, so the Kidd turnaround has been turned around.

No one could possibly lay any credit at the feet of Jason Kidd should Nets ever win a Title.

good to have him on the team for the first few years, great to bring NJ in the spotlight for a bit and give us some respect as a club, but that effected faded as each year went by, leading us to this past season, and we saw how that went.

regardless of how good or bad our team will be this season or in upcomming seasons, very happy to have Harris as a replacement.

He was great (on the court) those first few years...but his ego just got way too big near the end. I thank him for all the good memories I have with him as part of the team, but I can't say I'm sad to see him gone.

    1) Why would you commit to something that you may not be absolutely sure? 2) Why hurt your bargaining power by do so?

Yeah it is f'ed up but that is how the world turns. If he signed with the Spurs, I would have been cool with that too.

I had no problem with the Zo thing. It was one of those things that happens a lot in the NBA. Agents do that stuf with their clients. Look it is happening with us now. Kiki is trying to get some of the players he had in Denver. $hit like that happens a lot.

Here is a quote from another thread. I didnt want to bring it up there, but this is why I wanted an better understanding of what people thought of him.

I am quoting Dumpy (No offense dude. I know you are still upset with me about the avator thing. lol)

I disagree with Dumpy. Kidd was a very good leader until the last year. The guy helped bring this team to the Finals his first year. Then to go back again the next. VC isnt as good as a leader as Kidd. All the hopla about VC and the young guys is all BS. Kidd the same thing last year. What was the quote? " Best team or bench or group he has played with."

I agree that Kidd demonstrated good leadership skills his first few years with the team. However, they have eroded drastically since then. There were a number of epic threads about this last year; I'll see if I can find one and bump it.

I like howyou say those threads were epic Dumpy! :D

Anyway on topic- He was great in the first few years here, but I really disliked him once Kmart left. His off-court behavior and his meddling with team affairs really killed him for me.

I guess it was more a constant stream of threads instead of just a single thread.

The best statement I could find that expressed my opinion on Kidd actually was in a thread in the Mavericks forum. I'll just cut and paste my two posts, and spare you the insults that were flung back and forth:

First, right after the trade, and when some Mav fans were gloating about their "steal", I wrote:

Two months later, when Kidd predictably failed in the playoff environment, I added the following:

    Hope that helps.

He had a young team he was trying to get to the Finals. What you say to a reporter at halftime of an All-Star game does not hurt your bargaining position.

He could have made his intentions clear after the season is over. THAT is what agents are for.

Lost a lot of respect for Kidd at that point.

He did turn it up bigtime in that years playoffs, though. Until the Finals.

Without Kidd, there'd probably be no interest in buying the Nets, no Ratner, no Brooklyn, no "world's most expensive arena" and no talk of any big name player ever coming here through FA.

loved him while he was here

thought he could improve his shooting

disappointed to see how he ended his career as a net.

as of now, not a fan at all, hope he loses and regrets his decision to leave jersey.
