Kidd: Carter and Frank Up to the Challenge

September 17, 2008, 10:00 pm Jason Kidd is spending time in the New York area this summer and Dave D’Alessandro caught up with him. In a quick interview, Kidd tells the Ledger beat reporter that “Vince is a leader. He’ll have those guys playing. And they’ve got a great coach” but notes as well how young the team is. After watching Yi Jianlian in the Olympics, Kidd said, “Only time will tell if that deal works” but adds “he’s a talent.”

Whoa, Kidd was at the same Yankee game was me. Wish I saw him.

"Whoa! Your kid has a huge head!"

In all honesty, I'd have said hi, told him thanks for getting me hooked an basketball, and begged him not to grope me (Okay. That part wasn't honest).

He's actually a pretty nice guy in person. I've met him twice and both times he was really cool. The coolest was when I saw him after a Nets game at an Uno's off RT 3 in Clifton,NJ. I was wearing my Kidd jersey and the waiter came up to me and said "don't freak out but J.Kidd just walked in the restroom.". My friends were freaking out, but I was calm about it. I just see these guys as regular dudes with a tremendous talent. Also Nets players are always at my job (I work as security at Target in Clifton) and Ive talked to them a bunch of times (Trenton Hassel being the coolest believe it or not...Kiki Vanderweigh being the weirdest but thats a whole nother story). Anyways one of my friends got his autograph, I just said he had a great a game and to enjoy the rest of his night. When I got home I found out he had just divorced his wife, so he was really cool to be nice under the circumstances.

He might make bone head moves outside of basketball, but when it comes to fans and respecting teammates he has always been a class act.

I hope you didn't follow him into the restroom!

The only player I have ever meet was Bill Russell.

Heh, I knew someone who met Kidd, he was working at a golf course and at the end of the day, when he was supposed to get a tip, Kidd in a rude way gave him his sweaty hat and said "here's your tip" . Ouch.
