How bad was Shaun's injury compared to Jay Williams. It seemed as though Williams was poised to make a comeback a few times and it never really panned out. I'm still skeptical that Livingston can make any sort of meaningful comeback, but as many have already mentioned, low risk / high reward.

Considering that we have plenty of talent and don't really need any major roster moves, I'd be fine with letting Raef walk at the end of the year and keeping our roster as is.

I don't really remember the extent of Williams' injury. We didn't get the benefit of watching it over and over on youtube.

Well if you really want to see it, remember, you asked for it:

To those saying there is no downside, does that mean the deal is only 1 season guaranteed and the rest team options?

If not he could potentially cost us cap-room, which I don't value very highly but it still does have some value.

If the Blazers sign him, I'm interested to see what they signed him to.

If I'm PA (well I guess I'm on my yachat in the tropics), but if I'm KP, I offer more than what he can get out there for the first year in order for him to take a 3 yr deal with two years being a team option.

In a way I think that is how they signed Blake. Didn't Blake get 4 yrs at 4 mil/yr with two years being option years. If Blake's market value was 3 mil (which was being speculated) then signing a 3 yr deal at 3 mil/yr is 9 mil. If I'm Blake I take the 4 mil/yr for a guarenteed 8 mil and maybe 8 mil more. If Blazers don't pick up the option he has to think he can at least get a couple mil somewhere for a year and still come out on top.

Good point, of course. But presumably he wouldn't be signed to a very large contract, and I'm pretty sure the vaunted cap room plan is going to come to naught anyways. There really aren't any big-name unrestricted free agents who I'd even want to sign in next year's class, and if our team is as good this year as I think it's going to be, we'll be fine to just re-sign our own guys. I think Livingston, even if guaranteed to a contract past '09 at a couple million a season, would be a worthwhile gamble.

Man I hate seeing that video ... worst ever! (I say this as someone who has had an MCL repair and an ACL repair on the same knee, fifteen years apart).

Hopefully the team and SL can come to terms that are satisfactory for both sides, and whatever happens down the line if he can get anywhere near his old form, he could end up being a really versatile piece of this team ... or not, and we still should have some nice options at the point guard position (hopefully).

Thanks guys, nice to be here.

Now if only someone had clued me in to what was going on over here last week rather than nominating me for OT Forum mod "over there"... *cough cough Mistrel cough*

The skills that I roll with, can only be obtained on the rough courts of inner N.E. P-Town! Bobby will do just fine.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Eh, heh, sorry. I was trying to remove myself from consideration, since I didn't want to be a moderator there if I planned to post here, and I did think you'd make a great moderator. But I wasn't thinking it through and considering whether it might be a problem for you down the line if you wanted to post here.

Also, I would have alerted you and others to this site, except I didn't feel it was appropriate for me to try and advertise another site on BBF.

But honestly, I am sorry. I've generally tried to stay quiet on that forum, because I don't want to generate conflict...I should have heeded that instinct and not thrown in a nomination on my way out.

All that said, I am very happy you are here.

I hope you don't mind that I laughed my ass off after reading that. It was pretty fucked up though, but Minstrel didn't mean to.

I'm totally kidding, dude. No hard feelings at all, and no need to apologize. I should have been paying closer attention to what was going on over there anyways and noticed that something was up... I'm still holding on to a sliver of hope that they'll come to their senses and the old place might still be saved, and I'm happy to moderate posts on the now-moribund OT Forum over there. I didn't sign a loyalty oath or anything, but who knows if they'll be pissed to see me posting over here. If I get "fired" as a Mod over there, so be it. I have no beef with the other board, but I also don't feel like I need to be their servant. My loyalty is with the posters who make this a strong fan community, not with any particular URL.

Well Shaun tore 4 tendons, Williams only tore 3, as well as severing the main nerve in his leg and fracturing his pelvis. He almost died in the accident as well. There was question to if Williams would ever walk again. Comparing the 2 isn't quite a level playing field.

I am not a doctor but doctors today do amazing things. The kid is young and if he is motivated he can succeed IMO. Good for him if he makes it and good for us if he does too. If he doesn't, we gave him a shot. Good for us then too.

Exactly. Besides, even if his potential will always be limited by his athleticism, Livingston will always have his size and his vision. From what I remember, Williams' game was much more based on his quickness.
Exciting news if he does get signed, and hopefully for everyone's sake, Sergio gets traded to New York (who I believe have a $1.3 million trade exception) for a well protected first rounder.

and I hope to never see that video of the injury again.... brutal
