oh for fucks sake this is getting ridiculous. why don't we each create our own set of rules and our own forum? too many forums, too many rules, too many anal retentive people who think they should control everyone. this is getting out of hand. one free speech zone is enough. never have i seen so many control freaks with their panties in a bind all in one place. having said that, denny you are a reasonable fellow and somebody has to manage this mess. whatever you decide is will go along with.
well yeah, there is nothing wrong with it at all its just thats where some of the friction there started re political threads in the old OT forum as the board had a dedicated political forum where the admins tried to push us into for those topics. im not saying S2 is anything like BBF overall, but that made me laugh and sigh at the same time
easy solution, let 'em post whatever they want here and just remove this forum from the recent topics list - isolation.....desolation!
This is a constructive idea. Is it a good thing for the 100+ awesome OT threads to be excluded from the recent topics list because of 5 threads about "Does Palin take it up the butt?" We're not trying to push any or all of the blazers posters out of the blazers forum. We're looking as a group to figure out a solution that satisfies everyone. See post #1 - that's not a complaint/request/suggestion by anyone in a position of authority as S2 staff.
Well, let's try things out with the Random Thoughts thread as an outlet for sudden impulses. Maybe things are already solved.
look at this forum, which i also post on. there is a "dumb threads" sub-forum which is used at the mods discretion. http://www.styleforum.net/ actual forum: http://www.styleforum.net/forumdisplay.php?f=18 that might be an option. mods discretion. I don't mind it as long as its here, the thing I hate most are locked threads since you can't really respond to anything...sure, if there's a bunch of porn and crap like that, lock away...but dumb threads can be moved at a mod's discretion IMO...hurts no one really.
well in context of how the blazer community operates within an OT environment and the freedoms they have moved here to enjoy i would think some of the content in there would be a little 'looser' than dedicated to amazing topics of great debate what i do think though, is that it is a better look for our main forum and the site on a whole to show BLAZER topics as representation of our forum as opposed to ANY OT topic. end of the day, we want more Blazer fans here and we're gonna get em with Blazer BBall topics, not tangent threads of randomness.
Heh: "To access this forum your post count must be 1 or greater. You currently have 0 posts." Looks like they don't want guests seeing it!
no. I run a small board basically for me and a few friends. something to do during the work day, good for planning nights on the town, talking about shit, etc.
No one is trying to censor you, they just have the right to criticize your taste if they want to. If you don't like it, continue defending your position because that is what S2 is about.
There are three suggestions that seem to have merit to me. Speak up if you disagree. 1) We create a second subforum in the blazers forum (or a subforum of OT) for these kinds of threads, exclude from recent topics page, and allow the blazers mods to move threads at their discretion. We would make similar subforums in other places on the site as appropriate. 2) We create a single forum or subforum for the whole site where people can go crazy about any topic. Exclude this one forum from the recent topics list. 3) We use a single thread on the site to merge all these topics together (per Minstrel's suggestion). I'm willling to implement any of these three, or any other that we can all be happy about. My opinion (which carries no more weight than anyone elses) is: 1) This is acceptable, but more to manage on our end. We may be creating hundreds of these subforums if we ultimately have hundreds of communities like the Blazers is now (and the nets, and the lakers, etc.). The downside is that you're still going to see these kinds of threads in the "Last Post" part of the top of the forum and in the forums listing pages. 2) This is the easiest, since we set it up one time and let the mods do their thing. The downside is that a couple of people here (Xericx and ucatchtrout, maybe others that I don't know about) would have to go to a different forum to post these kinds of threads and posts to their hearts' content. Still has the "Last Post" issue, but would only be for the one forum on the forums listing pages. 3) One for the whole site, or one per team forum/ot forum? Needs clarification. We're being put in a tough spot because we have posters like e_blazer who has interests and Xericx & ucatchtrout who have conflicting interests. We're trying to resolve this democratically and get everyone's buy in to the solution. Not some dictate from the staff.
or this.... i think people would prefer subforums here, and we should split the OT in two.... OT: Serious OT: Not so much 1.the serious subforum would exist with the understanding that there was a higher level of moderation in order to promote legit discussion - this subforum would be eligible for recent topics 2.the not so much subforum would essentially be a free-for-all and would have low low moderation and NOT be on the recent topics list for the Blazer forum. i doubt there would be any issues over that set up. it is a little customised for our fanbase, but seriously we get our post on something chronic and we need a lil flexibility to exist
well if it's going that way, i'd honestly prefer the higher moderation in the serious forum - at least people would know they need to come correct in there.
