Kidd? Haha, I doubt he managed to stir up that much power in a matter of months. But I could be wrong. I'm sure half of the roster wanted him gone. Perhaps even Devin Harris before he was traded to NJ. Anyway, who cares. It needed to be done. Btw, your link doesn't work.
Fixed. They gave up a lot to get Kidd. If Cuban really thinks he can take them to the next level, which I assume he does, I'd think Kidd has that type of power already. -Petey
But do you really think Kidd would ask for trade after just being traded to the team? How can anyone take that seriously? I'm sure Kidd mentioned some negativity about Avery, but Cuban must of heard it enough times from other players. It sealed the deal.
Don't know if Kidd did or didn't ask to be traded, but that doesn't mean he was at the head of the 'Fire Johnson' committee. I'd think he was at the front of the line after what he went through last season. Either Kidd likes you (Frank) or he does (everyone else). -Petey
Some time after Avery was canned, Kidd was quoted saying something along the lines of "I didn't do anything.", "The other guys here had enough of Avery to the point they didn't want to listen anymore.". Surely we don't know for sure what went on, but I don't think Kidd had much to do with this particular firing. Maybe, just some small input in Cuban's decision.
Didn't Dirk say he was relieved that Avery was out of there? Something about a dictatorship....I don't remember where I saw the article. Damnit.
I'm sure it was a plethora of players, but the two main ones were likely Kidd and Dirk. Kidd said all along that the didn't like Avery's system. Plus, when Avery benched him down the stretch of that one game (can't think of the opponent), I'm sure Kidd didn't take that well.
