I agree........seeing as how D-Rob was in the rockets division I saw him play 6 times a year at a minimum in the regular season, just from local coverage......that's not including nationally televised games during the reg. season and playoffs. Dennis Rodman even said the year after he left the spurs in '95 (when Hakeem whooped the both of them) that Robinson was too soft.......I remember during game 6 of the '95 WCF Bill Walton making the comment that "Robinson just isn't ready for this level of play" or something close to that. Mr. Robinson's neighborhood was much much too soft.........

I can't get over Lebron going so early.. he is NOT a top 20 all time player yet.

Kobe was early IMO too but not as early as LeBron.. what's he done to warrant being a top 20 pick??
his career is 5 years old!

    How are these stats disappointing?

In 89-90 they lost to the 59-23 Blazers (more wins than SAS).

In 91-92 they lost to the 53-29 Suns (more wins than SAS).

In 90-91, Robinson dominated the Warriors but the Spurs lost. He averaged 26 and 14 with 64 FG%, and an 87 FT%.

In 92-93 they Lost to the 62-20 Suns (more wins than SAS).

In 93-94 they lost to the 53-29 Jazz (just two less wins than SAS).

In 94-95 they lost to the Rockets in the Western Conference Finals, there is nothing wrong with that and the Rockets hadn't had Drexler for the entire year anyway. They were the defending champs and had all the talent on their team.

In 95-96 they lost to the 55-27 Jazz in the second round.

And name me the All-Stars Robinson had before Duncan.

LOL, you're counting the dip in his stats after his major injury in 96-97? Let's not get dirty with this. He was clearly out of prime but his stats weren't awful either way.

Well, thanks for the effort at least, I appreciate that. But there is absolutely no significant dip and he's not a choker.

cause they were all L's at the end of the day, lol.......The West was TOUGH back then, but Robinson wasn't...........In '93/'94 I felt that they should've beat the Jazz in that series.......I did enjoy the pizza hut commercials he did with Rodman though............

Yeah people say that, but they can't back it up.

I wanted to pick Kobe, but the GM drafts seem to put a premium on Big Guys in the voting/etc. process.

Tell me who helped Robinson in that series against the Jazz. It is clearly an exaggeration.

Real big of Walton to focus on just one game of a playoff series, when he knows Rob dominated games two and three. And he was a beast on the boards/defense in Game 4.

Walton was criticizing Robinson just like the rest of his critics during that time period. They won games 3 and 4 back in Houston, but outside of that Hakeem outplayed D-Rob in every other game.......when you're your teams "go to guy" you have to be more than just a beast on the boards..............D Rob in a lot of ways reminds me of KG. I think D Rob was better, but both are soft at times and can't be depended on to be your team's best player.....................that's if you want to win a ring.

When not only looking at stats but other skills as well I'd take 20 guys over him.......I'm not going to name some of them, because I want to draft them, lol

Spurs had a fairly good team that season (Dale Ellis, Willie Anderson, Rodman, Terry Cummings, Del Negro, J.R. Reid (who always seemed to play good against the rockets for some odd reason))......I didn't say they should've demolished Utah, but I always thought they could've beat them.................

    One game doesn't mean anything.

    I don't remember saying I wasn't looking at skills.

Rob played very well in the 95-96 series, and he didn't have Rodman either. In 93-94 I question the offensive relief that Rob received so I brought that up for you.

It was more than "one" game though, lol. Robinson "repeatedly" got that criticism throughout his career.

never said you weren't, but D Rob most definitely isn't one of the 10 best to ever suit up on an NBA court..........

I get what you're trying to get at, but dude was still soft. Not everyone who doesn't win a title is a cupcake. John Stockton (although I hate his guts and wish bad things on his offspring) wasn't soft by any means, Charles Barkley wasn't soft.........................D Rob was softness in a nice package. He never really had a "great" post up game to begin with. He would score a lot of his points off of facing up his defender. He could run the court as good as any big man to ever play the game though................

Example? More than one game this time because that proved nothing.
Don't see how you proved there was a clearly better player at #8.

Kind of hard to show he's "soft" when he doesn't play poorly. And he's not a high-post player like KG.

You'd have to see D Rob play in his prime to know what people are talking about. He wasn't the most "physical" specimen when it came having a post game. He wasn't a total bitch ala Dirk, but he was never that guy that you could say without a doubt, that "he will carry us to victory if we need him to" like someone said earlier..........And that series he got flat out dominated by Dream...........Game 5 was a straight ass kicking........

Tmac doesn't play poorly................................yet Tmac is soft.........................................did you watch D Rob play in his prime?

They call them intangibles for a reason you know.. no matter how hard statisticians try to make it a tangible stat.

you can't back up a player passing up shots in a close game, or not attacking the rim and settling for a jumper, you have to watch the games.... something you obviously did not because you have not once refuted what more than one person is saying about Robinson by saying you saw him come through time and time again, you just say "where is the stats?"

there are not stats for what I'm talking about is the answer.

my man, there is more to this game than just the stats....

I don't ever even recall D Rob having a "signature" post season moment that most greats have.........No big shots, no big plays.....nothing at all.................
