Moses wasn't a great defensive player, but he was an absolute beast on offense. If they would have called 3 seconds on him, he'd have set all kinds of records for that. Monster of an offensive rebounder.
yeah there were those better defensively, but his offensive rebounding skills were amazing. Dude would miss on purpose sometime to set himself up for an offensive rebound and the basket......................Funny thing is I see Moses around town at Fonde Rec Center and dude still has this intimidating ass presence about him.................
Offensively over D-Rob's first six years in the post-season, he is right there with Moses. Moses is a better rebounder (though D-Rob's teams moved at a slower pace), but I like D-Rob's all-around contributions more. And Moses would be somewhat out of place at Power Forward Dream, he's primarily a low post player who would disrupt the Center's spacing.
I think how much he "chokes" is delusional banter on your part. I've yet to see you bring up any objective information. Another T-Mac comparison? Wow man. Further, T-Mac was actually useful in Orlando and his teams were supposed to lose. T-Mac could not maintain his prime over the last 4 years, which is why he's not Kobe. He only had 1 or 2 amazing years. McGrady has aged like crazy in Houston. Pau Gasol's clutch scoring is actually far ahead of Josh Smith. Smith can't even break the 40% mark in close situations. Again, Pau is almost perfect on the Lakers. Gasol is an underrated defender, and you did completely base trading him off based on what you saw him do as a center against the Celtics. I don't want to hear about how I haven't "watched" Pau's games either.
I think you're wrong here. I know you want stats and all, but everyone who has commented on D-Rob has agreed that he didn't step up come playoff time and lead his team to victory. You're the only one on here saying otherwise. Be a skeptic if you want, but 4 ppl have mentioned his flaw.
Because he didn't "win". That's why. It's always been an amorphous and what I find to be lazy argument. I've lurked at various sites that rank him just where I had him (S2 is much cooler overall though ). Plus Dream is missing my point about magnitude, he insists on focusing on the fact that he is "#8" (he could be "#13" for all I care there is no clear cut difference). If one cannot support the intangibles they claim with complimentary unbiased evidence, then I find those claims to be dubious. David Robinson is third all time in PER and a superior defender than Shaq; he certainly merits that selection.
damnit I wanted Zeke really bad......oh well still some that people slept on that I'm gonna pick up........
but 4 ppl have mentioned his flaw. not including analysts, critics, and even his own teammates.......Huevon all I can say is go to your local sports bar and explain to people why you think Robinson is worthy of #8 slot. You will get laughed at, and rightfully so...........You ask for "tangible" evidence and we give it to you. I already listed the flaws to his game, and the fact that he wasn't a big game player...That is why he's not worthy of the #8 pick.......So my question to you is, why is he worth #8 pick in your eyes????? And I completely forgot about Elgin Baylor..........how stupid can I be........................
I'd LOVE to see a site that has him as one of the ten best players ever. please provide a link, otherwise it's heresay. I've seen him as the #8 ranked Center of all time though http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dailydime-GreatestCenters and FYI, winning is what it's all about amigo. and hollinger and his PER, TS% can take a long walk off a short pier. he's just a math nerd who's uses home made stats to create a career for himself.
Pau hasn't appeared too "clutch" in the post season throughout his career......his defense isn't that great, he has long arms, but that's about it. And when did I say you haven't watched Pau's game????.......anyways I'll save this argument for another thread.... don't give me the "supposed to lose" crap.....The Bulls were "supposed" to lose to the lakers in '91, The Rockets were "supposed" to lose in '95..................Tmac had 3-1 series lead at one point.......that means you're "supposed" to win...............The guy is soft. I've yet to see you bring objective info on why D Rob was worthy of a number 8 pick...........a lot of guys have great stats.......
No, people would pick certain players over him, but I've been to various places that rank him accordingly. What "tangible" evidence? How wasn't he a big game player though? And I've stated a million times, #8-#11/etc., it is quite comparable, stop focusing on that point. You didn't list any flaws in his game. What you did prove though, is that he's is not Jesus Christ 2, good for you, neither is ________. Also, Shaq's failed Free Throw shooting drags his True Shooting percentage through the mud to a degree, that is actually a fact. I'm sure D-Rob wouldn't slap his teammates in the face either, or heal on company time.
You want me to advertise rival sites? No thanks. ;[ I'd love for once for someone to show me how he was a choker.
well there's not stats for that now is there? you have to have watched him and read about him. you won't find a single person who say him say he was clutch in the 4th. no writer or fan.. not even spurs fans.
We're talking about last year are we not? Pau is not a center, and is a better "clutch" player. Josh Smith sucked in those situations. McGrady is Jordan and/or Hakeem? Huh? He's soft yet came to play at certain years in the post-season. I've already shown his contributions in the post-season.
Are we fucking serious? Eight pages of David Robinson chatter? Can't we just agree that most of us disagree with the pick and that the maker of said pick thinks it was a good one, despite the prevailing opinion that it wasn't? Lets move on to discussing how awesome Elgin Baylor and Isiah Thomas were as players and how utterly terrible they were as executives and now they have been taken consecutively.
I'm guessing those websites were www.nba.com/spurs www.i"heart"D-Rob.com www."ivisitedMrRobinsonsneighborhoodandhadagiddytimehehehe".com
