Lol Aaron Gray is Vince Carter? Listen to yourself. How many shooting guards left are there that were better than him?
Ah man, I was hoping Hayes would slip just a bit more lol VC isn't top 50 all-time, sorry but your like picking modern guys that are top 25 in current players....there was like 5 decades before our modern decade
Yes it does, but even if it didn't, Barry was a top 3-5 player for almost his whole career. You should be looking at these picks as if they'd be taken #1 in many seasons. Vince would not be a #1 (1st pick of the 1st round) even in his prime.
Wrong. Of the top of my head, I can name half a dozen SG/SF types who'd be better picks. The DeBusshere pick would be a 7th.
Why? And by bringing up Barry it easily validates Carter's selection. He's not even close to VC offensively.
You're argument is akin to Carter is better than Jordan because you say so, and because you only saw Carter play. As J_Ray put it, Carter is barely a top 25 player today, while there are 50 years of top 3-5 players in each of those seasons, all of whom were much better players. I can still name at least 6 players better, and I don't think Carter should have been drafted at all, or maybe as a very late round pick.
That's a viable strategy that we're seeing Huevon go with. I personally don't respect it and I don't think it will get too many votes from the people in the draft, but if voting is open to everyone, we'll probably get some who just don't have an understanding or respect of the pre-Jordan era who will vote for his roster over a roster with 60s-80s players. As for the Carter pick, I believe Adrian Dantley is one of the many available who were superior to Vince that Denny was speaking of.
I'm not thinking of any right now. At his peak, he was a 30 point a night guy on 55% shooting with just under 7 boards and just under 5 assists. Perhaps not a great defender, but its very hard to argue with those numbers. He and Baylor should be terrific together.
