You don't want Reggie handling the ball against this kind of competition. I agree that he could be used to take spot up threes, but there are guys who you can get six rounds from now or who might not even be drafted at all that can do that as well as Reggie. If you spend a pick this high for a guy with one special skill, you have to use him that way.
I don't want to mention names at this point. Baylor may well be the 3rd best SF of all time, behind Bird and Erving. Quibble with swapping Erving and Baylor and I won't argue. Barry would be #4.
If you are referring to my pick, Dave Debusschere... He was one of the greatest power fowards of all time. Not a SG/SF even though you would think he could play those positions because of his height. (6'6)
Thoughts on my team so far? PG Isiah Thomas SG SF Rick Barry PF Dave Debusschere C Bill Russell I'm trying to build a team with great defense and fierce competitors.
as for your team PG Isiah Thomas SG SF Rick Barry PF Dave Debusschere C Bill Russell I'll admit never been a big DeBusschere fan but he was a tough and skilled SOB. Thomas and Russell are great and Barry as I said was a prick but even worse a talented prick.
When I was in high school, the Bulls were to play the Warriors in the playoffs. The Bulls were using Angel Guardian Gym, and the Warriors needed a place to practice so they ended up using our HS gym. The word spread throughout the school, and as 8th (final) period came around, people went down to the gym to watch; basically filled the stands. The Warriors came in and did their thing. Barry was wearing a full length mink coat over his uniform. He went off to a basket on the side of the court and shot free throws the whole time. The Warriors ran a bunch of drills and played some full court 3-on-3. One of their big guys (I won't say the name) tried to dunk several times during those drills and couldn't do it. Off the back rim, ball flew to half court, and that kind of thing. It was pretty funny.
Isaiah was a tiny player, not especially good at defense. The rest of the "Bad Boys" were brutally physical and fine defenders. Rick Barry was never known for his defense; he wasn't Pistol Pete bad, but still not very good. Offensively, he was about as good as they came tho. http://www.clap.name/theleague/meandovine/?p=119 When he left the game, Barry was sixth on the NBA-ABA all-time scoring list with 25,279 points. And although his defense was sometimes criticized for being less than intense, his 1,104 career steals ranked 10th.
He had a pretty good front court mate who guarded the tough guys. At least during the championship runs.
No it isn't, that's a crazy way of interpreting what I say. J-Ray brought up a washed up Carter, and? Irrelevant. Go ahead and amuse me then.
I did think of Dantley, but he gave up a shitload of points if we want to look at other stats... Carter is quite comparable, and I thought a certain player would fall to me later so I drafted VC.
