The Ultimate Fighter 8 "Are you ready?!" So tonight's a great night for MMA fans, we're treated to free live fights on Spike TV and then it's the beginning of the Ultimate Fighter 8. Here's an article to get you going source: http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_y...Eo14?slug=dm-newtuf091508&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
Good debut for this season. Aguilar would've been interesting to see in the house (who puts themselves in the same category as Hitler, Napoleon, and Alexander when they have zero life accomplishments?) but it was nice to see him stomped. Clay Guida's brother is a living incarnation of The Dude. Big Nog's English is fine--the subtitles are superfluous. Good to see the Canadian kid (Krzysztof) get off to a good start. Canadians have slowly been progressing in the series. Jason Thacker had no fights, Rob MacDonald had a fight but lost, Kalib Starnes won a fight then got put out in the next round, Patrick Cote got to the finals and lost, and now we have Soszynski who might be a contender to win it.
Re: The Ultimate Fighter 8 Its only been one show but I am a big fan of Junie Browning. Dudes cocky and tough.
Soszynski looks good at 205. I saw him fight at Freedom Fight here in Ottawa 3 years ago at HW and he lacked stamina. Was a dull fight he easily won and probably should have finished. Training with Team Quest will get the cardio up for sure. and LOL at Aguilar with all that talk and then he gives up without being injured. He's a poser who can't handle it when things go against him. I was kinda looking forward to seeing Guida there and bam.. dude didn't do his homework... moron. I'm thinking Junie is the guy Dana referred to as Anderson Silva at 155... He looked good and all, but you know how Dana likes to overstate things.
I dont think Junie is the dude Dana is refering to. He said hes 24 Junie is only 22, looking at the list it could only be Shane Nelson or Phillipe Nover. or Joe Duarte, who somehow made it back to the house and destroyed everyone. Shane Nelson, I dont think we've seen him. Phillipe was tough but his first fight wasnt that special, Dana was probably exaggerating and starting the hype machine for the eventual lightweight finalist and possible winner.
some good news about the show.. solid ratings encouraging news after the recent dip in the ratings TUF has had.
Fighters in the house so far: Krzysztof Soszynski (LHW) Jules Bruchez (LHW) Vinicius Magalhaes (LHW) Antwain Britt (LHW) Dave Kaplan (LW) Phillipe Nover (LW) Brian McLaughlin (LW) Junie Browning (LW)
In the house: LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT Krzysztof Soszynski Jules Bruchez Vinicius Magalhaes Antwain Britt [injured--out] Eliot Marshall [replaces Britt] Shane Primm Tom Lawlor Ryan "The Master" Bader Karen Grigoryan LIGHTWEIGHT Dave Kaplan Phillipe Nover Brian McLaughlin Junie Browning John Polakowski Efrain Escudero George Roop Shane Nelson
LOL yeah he's cracking me up. I do wonder how much he can show these guys though. Junnie sounds like a basket case. The guy may need therapy more than a fight. That was one hell of a shot Bader delivered!! can't wait to see what goes down next week!
That commercial in the middle of the ultimate fighter, where Junie jumps the octagon fence from the outside, it looks like this dude just goes crazy. Plus all the stuff he does in the house, a basket case might be putting it lightly for this dude. Ryan Bader is by far the best wrestler here, it should be interesting if him and Krystof who is a jiu-jitsu guy fights him, because then his wrestling serves a dis-advantage. I just don't think he is well rounded enough to win it, especially with that Krystof guy around who according to them are quite well-rounded.
Yea, it looks like Junie is gone next week. With the clip of him jumping over the cage fence. As well I'm wondering what Dana is going to do when he comes in. I mean there has been lots of crazy drunk guys doing dumb stuff in the past seasons, however they ususally didn't do anything unless the person threw a punch/got into an actualy fight with someone.
Dana saying Junie should've been kicked off three times, if it is Junie he's referring to, leads me to believe Junie isn't going home. Ryan "The Master" Bader looked pretty good in the first fight of the season. It's been a while since the UFC's seen someone knocked out by a ground and pound strike like that. Usually it is from accumulation of damage and not a big swing that guys get beat.
I remember seeing that also, and it does appear that it is going to be Junie that he is talking to. That said, if he is talking to him and says that he should have been kicked off three times so far, that probably means he screws up four times. If that is the case, how on earth can someone be so stupid that they mess up four different times in like and 8 week period?
Junie Browning is nuttier than a Philadelphia fruitcake. But its true, Efrain was just laying around for most of that fight.
Efrain wasn't just laying around for most of the fight, he was constantly trying to get better position the entire time he had control on top. With his back on the ground, he was constantly looking for a submission. The only person that layed around was Shane when he took control for about 30 seconds, after that, Erain flipped him and tapped him. Efrain did much more in the fight than Nelson did, and he most certainly wasn't just laying around. I like Efrain's demeanor and how he handles things. Punks like Junie and Shane that seem to be more bark than bite at this moment(especially Shane right now,) talk trash the entire time, and he just smiles at them while they do it. It really pisses those two off, makes me laugh the entire time they keep getting more and more pissed.
