Thought of one potential trade that could work to reduce our abundance of bigs. Swift, KVH, Ager and Williams for Lamar Odom. Lakers need depth at center behind Bynum and the trade drops them below the luxury tax.

Nets could put out a starting line-up of Lopez, Yi, Odom, Carter and Harris. That's a huge frontline. Also, Odom's ballhandling ability would work well in the new offense.

Giving up Sean is the sucky part, but you have to give up something to get a starter like Odom. Plus I just don't see how you can use Yi, Lopez, Boone, Anderson, Najera and Williams. Ideally you want to use only 4 bigs at the max.

Short of a trade like this I think the Nets should just buy-out Swift and KVH (and maybe Ager).

I would do it. It would make us a better team. And a starting lineup of Harris Carter Odom Yi and Lopez would probably be one of the best in the East. Odom would excell in the new dribble drive offense but I hear he wants to end his career as a Laker so I doubt this would ever come up, ever. It also gives us a lot of SFs in Odom, Simmons, Hassel, Hayes, and even Najera. But still it would be a good trade for the Nets. Lakers on the other hand..I dont see them doing it. Unless maybe Sean Williams is appealing to them..idk. They are already big tho and that would give them an overload of bigs with Bynum, Gasol, Nihm, SWill, Swift, Mbenga and Powell so it wouldnt really make to much sense for them

Other issue in Laker land is that Odom wants to start and Jackson is thinking of bringing him off the bench. He's also stated to the media that he is not happy with how Odom has been playing. Real pissing match there.

As for the bigs on the Lakers it would probably be Bynum and Gasol as the starters with Swift and Swat as back-ups with Mihm (and maybe Powell) as the emergency reserves.

No deal. Odom is a bigman, and I'd rather not swap SWat for a rental.

Lakers would be nuts to give up Odom for absolutely nothing.

Odom crossed my mind when I heard the Lakers were using him in training camp mostly with the second team. The handwriting is on the wall there.

I think he's better as a 4 than as a 3, though he's better as a SF than anyone the Nets can put at the position save Carter. I don't think I would do the deal, however, because he would likely not want to resign here next year, and we would basically be giving up Williams for a one year rental. Even if he wanted to resign, I don't think the Nets would want to pay what he can get on the market, and he's not going to put us in championship contention anyway.

A three-way deal that brings the Nets a good young PG prospect would be better for us, so it still may be productive to think about Odom and who might want him.

He is disgruntled coming off the bench. He plays lazily alot of times and is drastically inconsistent. Can disappear at times. I would do it, and I'm a Laker fan.

I love Sean Williams, he has potential to be good. Ager would solve any guard problems the Lakers have (Our non-guaranteed contracts are three guards and Powell), meaning that with this trade, we could be solid, and not have to sign any of those guys. I also think we can cut Mbenga at any time.....which we might as well.

Completely ridiculous. Ager wouldn't solve any guard problems. Sean Williams is horrible.

    That's great.

The guard problem I alluded to is the three NON-GUARANTEED guards we have for preseason. I'd take Ager OVER all of them (Coby Karl, Brandon Heath, Joe Crawford). Sean Williams has a lot of potential and thank you for coming in and just saying he is horrible, and not giving any opinion whatsoever on the actual trade.

I personally would take KVH's expiring, a young Ager who we can throw in D-League for all I care, a growing Williams who is better than Powell or Mbenga combined (And Mihm too for that matter), and Swift, another big body on the bench.

We Lakers need toughness and athleticism, outside of Bynum, Ariza and an aging Kobe, we aren't really athletic. Williams and Stro would do that for us, even if they don't play alot. THAT and I'm not entirely comfortable letting Vlad guard PFs sometimes...

    How about this instead:

    Sean Williams
    Bobby Simmons
    Trenton Hassell

    for

    Odom
    Ariza

Odom would be a one year rental but you also save an extra year from the contracts of Simmons and Hassell by including them in the trade.

    Harris/Dooling/
    Carter/CDR/Ager
    Odom/Hayes/Ariza
    Yi/Najera/Anderson
    Lopez/Boone/Swift

I don't see the Lakers wanting to make that trade. They are thinking of starting Ariza. They take on extra salary next year, save nothing in luxury tax and downgrade at 2 positions (Odom to Swat and Ariza to Simmons).

I still don't want the Nets to give up on Sean Williams and the Lakers wouldn't do that deal.

Could be, but I wouldn't want to trade Sean just to get Odom for a one year rental. If Sean is part of a trade then at least one of Hassell or Simmons have to go the other way with him.

Question is, do other teams around the league think of Williams as highly as we do?

I doubt it, and don't think the Lakers would do this deal.

Again, don't know how good a player SWat will turn out to be.

But I do know Odom is just a rental, and he will take minutes away from Nets' kids, and the Nets need to develop the kids.

Intriguing, but I'd ultimately pass on it. I'm not sure the Lakers would do it anyway.

I agree with Real regarding Sean. I don't like giving up on a player with his potential after only one year (not to mention the fact that last year was his first time playing organized basketball since getting kicked off BC).
