I am a republican and I cannot make an argument to vote for him. He's too old. He doesn't hold dear to most of the traditional conservative views. He's too middle of the road. He supports some of the socialist-leaning ways this country is falling to. I just don't get his appeal. Never have.
He's too middle of the road? The exact same could be said of Obama. Nobody wants to vote for someone who is far left or far right, they all play both sides where possible until they get into office. edit: So are you voting Obama, or third party?
Why vote for a "liberal" Republican when you can vote for an authentic "liberal"? McCain-Feingold was more of a blow to our civil rights than the Patriot Act. EDIT: The only case I can see for voting him is to have divided government.
C'mon, you're a Republican? This is the easiest choice in the world. Obama has the most liberal voting record in Congress, and even believes that a baby who survives a botched abortion should still be killed. He is steeped in Marxism, and has been tutored by radical, anti-Americans like the Rev. Wright, William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, Saul Alinsky, and Franklin Marshall Davis. He says he wants to, "Spread the wealth around," which means redistribution of income, a classic Marxist belief. He worked for ACORN, The Chicago Annenburg Challenge, and the Woods Foundation, all leftist organizations, and he supported Raoul Odinga, the Marxist politician in Kenya. He even mocks people who "cling to their guns and their religion." Do I have to go on? McCain is not the perfect Repubican candidate, to be sure, but he is much better than Obama. He believes in a strong national defense, lower taxes, smaller government, and is pro-life. You should vote for McCain just to stop Obama.
I agree with everything you listed but outside of Obama being to old Obama is worse in the last 3 points. The main thing I like about McCain is his defense and national security policy compared to what might happen with Obama and the left leaning congress for the next 4-8 years. I would rather have someone else outside of McCain but what choice do we have except vote for McCain or not vote at all. I don't think it is going to make any difference Obama is our next president.
1. I am DEFINITELY not voting for Obama. 2. I may vote third party or not vote at all. America disgusts me right now.
LOL? How do those things make McCain better than Obama? Only if those are one's stance on the issues. There is no right or wrong in politics, only perspective. So you can't really list aspects of someone's platform and claim that it makes them better than the competition. I agree with Denny, why vote for a liberal republican when there is a real liberal running? That aspect of McCain's campaign is disliked even by his own party. Its like those crazy dudes who sleep with transexual women and claim to be straight, why not just get a really woman as opposed to one in disguise? In conclusion, McCain is a transexual.
I am not voting for McCain in order to reform the republican party. Its a shadow of what it should be.
Well, make up your mind. In your first post, you said you couldn't vote for McCain because of all his negatives. Now you say you can't vote for McCain because the Republican party is not what it should be. Which is it?
Maybe you should pay more attention. I was responding to a poster who identified himself as a Republican.
Actually I think that those two go hand in hand. I've talked to people who are voting third party in hopes that if enough of us do it eventually the elephants and donkeys will get the message and start producing higher quality candidates. Not saying that I necessarily agree with that theory.
I'm Republican and I'm voting for McCain for 3 reasons. First, he has 20+ years in politics in Washington, and the military experience he has is amazing. Second, he has shown in many cases that he goes against his own party, when he thinks they're not right, which the other one () cannot say much about. Third, I just trust the man much more, he's always speaking the truth, and is a true hero. The other "one" is a lawyer, who has perfected lying and does it to so well that he has blinded millions of Americans into thinking that he's the second coming of Jesus H. Christ.
They are related. If McCain is the best the republicans can do, I can't support them. I'll just wait patiently for Bobby Jindal.
Amazing, not one post that says "I am voting for him because his policies are good." Maybe that is because he has not stated what his policies would be, and that can't help his election chances.
And stand by while Obama does enormous damage to this country for possibly the next 8 years? No, thank you.
Yeah and he brilliantly said that we may be over there for 100 years . While I don't think he meant that literally, I question his military commons sense. What exactly does military experience bring to a war in progress when he clearly isn't in any rush to end it? I guess maybe he'll draw up some really cool looking plays for the troops to run. Clever Why do you trust McCain more? How is he a true hero? If Obama has blinded millions obviously McCain has too with all this "maverick" nonsense.
It seems like McCain will also contribute to this with some of his endorsement of the socialist policies that we are going through right now. Its disgraceful, he he took a hard-nosed stance against Government intervention in the private sector, I would have respected him. But he wants to pay people's mortgages down with tax dollars? Are you f'n kidding me.
Exactly, yet people will complain about Obama's proposed "redistribution of wealth", same concept IMO.
That's nonsense. We still have troops in Korea, Germany, and Japan. That is what he meant AND SAID when he talked about us having a presence there for 100 years.
