So I'm in the process of making business cards for my one man-consulting firm. Is it douchey to put "President" as my title? I know Cheif Executive Officer looks douchey unless its a large firm....but President works right?
I'd like something with a more international flair to it, something european. Principal or something? hmmm
New card, what do you think... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/923xrzsb3hI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/923xrzsb3hI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
If you can, use something like Marketing Manager or Production Manager or Engineering Consultant or whatever. You always know you are working with a small potatoes company when you get a business card that says "President" or "Owner." It has the exact opposite impact you want it to. Similarly, if you have a website, under the "contact us" section, you should include sections for HR, Purchasing, Production, etc. Have them all forward to you. The idea is to project that you are bigger than you really are.
Great film. I love that scene. I've actually designed business cards for attorneys, and I always find that I've tried too hard. The more incredibly boring, the better. You can design a lawyer's business card in freakin' Excel. *Check that--Notepad.*
Executive Managing Consultant. or Consulting Executive Manager alternatively Consulting Management Executive
Managing Consultant has a nice ring to it. Executive sounds too superfluous. Consultant is too broad perhaps? Strategic Consultant perhaps?
How about "HMFWIC?" (Head mother fucker what's in charge) I always liked General Manager or Project Facilitator
I'm planning to pitch internationally next month, can't use American humour with a snazzy or creative title. Business Process Consultant? That might work but it sounds low-level. I can use "Director of" but......
How about "Executive Consultant?" "Managing Coordinator?" "Process Facilitator?" "Grand High Mucky Muck?"
Executive Consultant = sounds like executive assistant Managing Coordinator = sounds "ok", a bit fluffy. Process Facilitator = community organizer Grand High Mucky Muck = Only would work if I was a hippie.
Myself, I always find anybody with the title "consultant" immediately suspect. But I read a lot of Dilbert and I love Office Space, and they have really demonized the word for me. "Coordinator" sounds like a guy who works for a manager, and doesn't get a manager title. Too low-grade, IMO. Better than "community organizer" though. You can't go wrong with either "Manager" or "Director." What do you consult on? Finance? If so, maybe Finance Manager. Sales? If so, maybe Director of Sales. Pornstar casting? Managing Director of Awesome.
I'm leaning towards "Director". Perhaps "Managing Director", but that's more in the financial field....but it sounds good. some ideas: http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=321944
A company I represent, I am the "Chief Operating Officer". It works well for me in that capacity. I'm not bothering to do business cards with that, as most of my leads are through email/net. I could use that...its not as bad as President or CEO.
