My old name (Perfection) came from the fact that I am a recovering Perfectionist and it was a daily humbling reminder. Although I must say my five years in college were nothing more than a mediocre education in partying, and I'm really no better off for it.

My current name comes from how I consider myself, an all-around balanced individual, and there is a fraternity meaning as well.

The inimitable EnglandDan, the lovely and gracious MrsDan, a former OLive poster who shall remain nameless, and I were playing pool in a bar after attending a game one night. The three of them proceeded to get cut off by the bartender, and while I ordered and drank another beer merely to drive home the point that I had most certainly not been cut off even though I was as drunk as all three of them put together, we began discussing our options for continuing the party at another location despite the fact that a good-sized percentage of the beer I was drinking at the time was ending up in my sizeable and rather shaggy beard. A bleary-eyed EnglandDan, relatively fresh off telling a story about some sort of reenactment of the battle of Hoth, turned to me and said, "I'm going wherever the Wookiee is going." The next day, I was BlazerWookie (I could only use 12 characters) on OregonLive.com, and it stuck. TyroneLaces and HyperBully were immediatly and unceremoniously retired. It wasn't long before I permanently lost the "-ie" moniker in a drunken insult fest, and I've been "-ee" ever since. I even went so far as to get "WOOKEE" licence plates for my car, lol. Yes, I'm that big a dork.

Little Alex is what the school councilor called the main character in "A Clockwork Orange". After we had both gone through nasty breakups, s buddy of mine and I would spend many weekends drinking Jagermeister watching that stupid movie. I probably have seen it over 20 times, which says alot about me, none of it good.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I needed a name for an online game in 1994 or so. On a whim, I picked "Minstrel" because I enjoyed writing short stories and poems, I was hugely into music and I love the carefree, irreverent style I associate with wandering minstrels.

In that game, I really enjoyed playing the character to the hilt, and it felt very me, so I began using it as my online identity in any informal venue (basically, anywhere where you don't have to use your name).

Simple. A friend called me Speed in college. I then used "Speed" as my name on O-Live. Then, I got booted and came back as "KingSpeed."

That's cool. Papa Joe is an old friend of mine. I worked for him for a few months in 1999. I would tell him what NBA stuff to talk about. Of course, I told him to talk about the Blazers a lot.

Well we all know Ptown, but I have always used Blazer1. That was my license plate when I lived in washington and plan on getting one on my car here in Oregon soon. But is the airplane of the team still called Blazer 1? Oh well...thats my story and I'm sticking to it.

After throwing one too many handfuls of popcorn at my wife at the movie theater during a crappy romantic comedy she dragged me to, she got fed up and dumped the entire vat over my lap. Hence, she was the "dumper" and I became the "dumpee." Eight years ago I wanted to make one simple post on an internet bulletin board, and in the middle of a brain freeze I chose "Dumpy." I had no idea I would eventually be known to thousands by that name.
