Seems like just a rumor to me, but you can never ignore these things even if they aren't true because they could lead to something. For example, hypothetically Kobe could now issue a respond to the rumors and say that he would consider an offer such as this, or Olympiacos could say something like "60 million is only pocket change for us". Whatever. Anyway, if you noticed each of the above sources wrote their article based on the previous one (other than TalkBasket). Pretty cool how each site gets their info from another site, and their info gets taken by yet another site.

Here's an ESPN article which clears some things up:

What do you guys think? Could an offer like this one cause Kobe to go to Greece? If not, do you think ANY kind of offer from a European team could entice him?

They mentioned the rumored offer would be a 3 year deal at $83Million (tax free) along with all the paid amenities.

At this stage in his career I don't think Kobe would leave. I still think he wants to win a title w/o Shaq and he has plenty of money already. I wouldn't be surprised to see him play there on the downside of his career if the offer is right.

A likely target in my mind is LeBron James. I don't think he'll win a title in Cleveland and he's young enough to play overseas for a couple of seasons and build his popularity across Europe. He wants to be a Billionaire athlete and Global Icon, this would help him achieve those goals.

Shapecity! Good to see you once in a while.

I also think LeBron could be tempted to join Olympiacos in the future, but the chances of him staying in the NBA are still high.

    Kobe's Response (translated from Hebrew):

"Don't ask me stupid questions. This is stupid, move on to the next question."

"It was a joke, and people took it and started to go forward with it. Everyone has to joke about something."

I'm sure these rumors will come up again in the summer if/when Kobe opts out of his contract. Timing will be the ultimate factor in a superstar opting to play overseas.

I read Hedo Turkoglu is considering a return to Europe to play because he wants to raise his family ther versus the US.

You'll probably hear/read rumors about basically every international player in the NBA about a return to Europe (even guys like Dirk, Manu). I actually wouldn't be surprised if Hedo leaves the NBA if he really does have a good reason to. He won MIP, unless there's a real chance for the Magic to win the title he might not have much left to win here.

California's great, great weather, great people, great food. Kind of tough to adjust to a new place, but I'm getting there, slowly. New Jersey was freezing cold and Israel is too hot...Carlsbad is right in the middle.
