So because B-Roy was an All-Star last season, wouldn't it make sense that he'll be an All-Star this year and going forward because now he's not the primary/only concern of the opposing defense going forward?

I say he will be a long time All-Star because of the talent that surrounds him.

    Your thoughts....

I'm not sure if Roy will be on the All-Star team year in, year out, but I do know we will be well represented on All-Star weekend for the next 10 years.

It's hard to say, but based on the league-wide respect that coaches and players alike seem to have for him (and rightfully so), I see no reason why that respect would decrease as our team gets better (hopefully). I would definitely think he'd be voted in by the coaches many times over in the coming years. Not sure if anyone from Portland other than maybe Greg will ever be voted in as a starter by the fans, just because of our smallish population and the fact that their are Kobe's and Duncan's in the league. The center position is probably the weakest, and Greg is already hugely popular and well-known.

edit - Actually I forgot that Yao Ming has billions of Chinese fans who will probably vote him in as a starter every year till he retires, so I don't know if we'll ever have a starter : )

Will Roy be a perennial All-star? That's a tough call, I think there was a pretty strong case that he got in when some possibly more deserving guys were snubbed (Deron Williams, and Baron Davis to name two) I think it all comes down to how much Roy asserts himself with this team as LaMarcus and Greg begin to assume a more prolific role.

Call me a pessimist, but I think he's going to be an occasional All-Star and might end up with 3-4 appearances when his career is all said and done.

Fans vote for the All Stars, then the coaches vote. Hopefully after last years All Star performance and the Blazers getting better this year, Roy will actually be voted in, but thats hard with all the talent in the west. I think the fact that he was in once helps his case, like when Nash won the MVP, the following year they had to give it to him again cause he put up better numbers then when he won it, as Roy will ideally put up better numbers then he did last year.

Absolutely. With the aging of the current western SGs, B-Roy's in like flynn.

He will be a long time All-Star because of his skill and game play, regardless who is around him.

Roy will be an occasional All-Star, mostly voted in because of our record. As LMA and Oden become more offensively prominent, they're going to get more nods. And when push comes to shove, it's tough to put in three guys from the same team on an AS roster.

BRoy will never be the kind of player the fans would vote in. Just doesn't have that flashy kinda' game. But the coaches love and respect the kind of player he is. That is how he will get invited to all-star weekend.

Yep, he will be. He'll be right up there with the Chris Paul's and Deron Williams' this season.
I see Greg making a ton of them. The only guy that may be left out could be LaMarcus, IMO. But that'd be pretty sweet if we could get three of our guys on there eventually.

Sure, they're both MVP caliber players. Based on their careers so far, I'd give Deron and Paul the leg up on Brandon, but I said by the end of this season, Brandon's gonna make that big leap to be one of the NBA's elite players.

I love Brandon, but I don't think he is an MVP caliber player yet.

He's not an MVP, but he's definitely the type of player to take over a game and beat you. DWill was certainly the most deserving player to miss the all-star game.

exactly. Chris Paul is arguably the best guard in the whole league... dude was an MVP candidate last year... but since when has Deron Williams established himself as a cut above Roy? Though they play different spots I see them as very comparable in their effect on the game and in the awards/recognition they've received so far in their short professional careers. Fans can have a favorite between the two, but these guys are close in talent.

I'd say D-Will has established himself already...not to mention how much he steps up his game in the Playoffs (22.3 PPG, 11.5 APG & 4.5 RPG against the Lakers!!!)! I'm pretty sure if you put DWill and Roy in front of a board of GM's ...Dwill would be picked more than Roy to build a team around...

Once again, I'm not trashing Roy...so don't get sensitive...I'm just stating that DWill is already of the top 3-5 PG's on the league right now...although Roy will be good (maybe great) he's not quite there yet in regards to his position or overall skill set...but of course playing different positions means having different responsibilites....still you should get the idea of what I'm talkin' about...;)

I love baron Davis, but he was a product of a system. A lot of players #'s look inflated because of the type of game the Warriors play. Brandon deserved it more then Baron, but DWill might have had an argument.
