Meh, he`s cool with me. I`d blame it more on Martz, but They aren`t my team so i don`t know them as well.

ESPN is reporting that they did it now instead of waiting

I get the feeling the players aren't exactly devastated about this.

Neither am I. Nolan hasn't shown all that much. Singletary was a hot name a while back and you know none of the players will give him crap.

I'd take Nolan on as a DC in SD, replace Cottrell's bitch ass.

It is kind of hard to win when your QB is J.T. O'Sullivan--a career journey man.

The guy was making personnel decisions for the past few years, so he can't really blame the lack of talent. When you personally handpick a QB with the first overall pick, your job security tends to be inextricably linked with his performance. That pick and his inability to build a decent offensive line probably were his worst mistakes.

He was calling the personnel shots (that obviously haven't worked out), and quite a few of the players did not like him. He was unpopular pretty much his entire tenure in SF.

^ Ah ok. I just hate when they fire coaches 4, 5 or 6 into the season. Poor judgment on the ownership part of the team IMO.

I had a hunch he was going to be fired but towards the end of the season. I mentioned this yesterday in this following post.

Wow, did I almost time that guess correctly or what. The last loss 29-17 against the Giants probably sealed Nolans fate.

Singletary has been getting interviews for the past two years... should be interesting to see. From what I've read previously, Singletary is a great motivational guy/leader type coach but weak on the X's and O's. That's not overly surprising, as he doesn't have a ton of coaching experience. And it won't be a problem as long as he has the right coordinators in place. They can handle that while he does more of the "big picture" type of stuff, rather than try to micro-manage.

Well before they lock him up to a deal I'd like to see how the players respond to him. I think the 49ers are going to explore other head coaching canidates before they settle on anyone. They'll be expected to give Pete Carroll a call and I think pursuedr Bill Cowher after he retired from the Steelers.
