First off let me just say Im perfectly okay with gay marriage BUT there could be problems if allowed across the USA.

What would stop two men or two women lying about being gay just so they can get the economic benefits of being married? How hard could that be? Not very. Is the gov gonna send an employee out to see them sleep in the same bed (sarcasm)...This is the only issue I have.

Im sure if anyone was caught doing this all they have to say is "Im bisexual and we have an open marriage"

    This could be a problem

Like, say, pretending to be married to an immigrant on an expired work permit so he won't be deported?

And then I ask you what if a man and a woman lied about getting married just for the financial advantages?

You see the problem is, that marriage is actually governed by laws at all. Why should the government care if you are married or not? This is something that should not even be regulated at all, let alone have tax laws built upon the basis of it.

It is simple. Government should not be regulating marriage at all. Tax laws should be based upon the number of dependants you have. When folks do decide to shack up, it should be handled like a business merger in legality.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
It's already been explained, really. Nothing prevents that, just as nothing prevents a man and woman from doing it now. Should we eliminate heterosexual marriage to close off that "problem?"

Good point...I dunno, I just feel that a gay marriage would be used more in a bad way than a "normal" marriage. I dont have any factual reasons to back that up but I could just see two dudes that have been long time friends do this for the benefits and they think it would be hilarious
