http://www.kffl.com/article.php/95720/512 I saw a recap of what happened. Basically Davis said something on the sidelines, pissed off his coach, and was ordered to go to the locker room. Then, as he was leaving, pimp Singletary noticed Davis left his 49ers helmet on the bench, so he yelled after him and Davis came back like a little slut, picked up his helmet, and went to the locker room. Coach Singletary keeping his pimp hand strong, not letting lose like former Coach Mike Nolan did. He will not let his hoes run wild. Then he basically berated Davis in the press conference, calling him uncoachable and not a team player. Respect.
I loved the fire he had in the press conference. He should loan some to Norv Turner. God damn, I loved it. I love this guy, already. Davis is such an idiot. He's such a waste of talent. I can't stand players like him. He don't give a fuck.
This will backfire on him. It's one thing to tear into your players behind closed doors, but a lot of players won't take well to being thrown under the bus to the media.
Stuff like this is nice but he can't be doing it every week or else it will lose it's effect. If the team doesn't improve then he'll just look like an idiot up there and lose his team very quickly.
If he doesn't lose them with this, then I'll be surprised. 6 days in and he's already trashing them. Now they have a bye week, so this whole ordeal will stew in the media for 2 weeks until they actually get to play again.
I loved Singletary's message, but I agree he can't do it every week. He's made his mark and laid out what he expects from his players. This team needed a kick in the butt, especially Vernon Davis and a few of the other prima donnas on the squad. I think the defensive unit will embrace Singletary's fire a lot more than the offense, but the 49ers defense needs the most improvement for this team to move forward, along with the O-Line. I'm looking forward to seeing how the team responds after the bye week. At least he got the 49ers some media attention. LOL.
I felt Singletary didn't articulate his point that well though in the press conference, and he came off slightly as someone using a pre-text.
