Out 2-4 weeks, per Yahoo. Yahoo - Full Story Rocketeer....the evidence for him being injury prone is overwhelming. He was hurt in college, whether or not that happened on or off the court, it's still an injury. He had to have microfracture surgery less than a year after that. Now, after twisting his ankle in training camp, he sprains his foot in his first career game and is out for 2-4 weeks. That's called being injury prone. He hasn't really been healthy since he was in college, and even then, didn't he have back issues (I could be wrong). Regardless, he has yet to prove to anyone that he can stay healthy, and until he does, he's going to be labeled as injury prone.
twisting his ankle is not and was not a big deal. i'd understand if he had some problem that he just couldn't get over and was having reoccurring injuries. that would be injury prone. but that isn't the case.
Some guys just don't have the right constitution to withstand all the physical impact and stress that comes with NBA basketball.
No. If he played a full NBA game, I maybe wouldn't make that determination. But he barely played one quarter before getting himself injured. If I was a Blazer fan, that would really concern me. We'll see.
it would concern me if it was something that seemed likely to be reoccurring. a 2-4 week foot sprain doesn't bother me at all.
Does a dog bark? Is Michael Jordan the best basketball player ever? Is Barack obama the next president of the United States? The answer to all of these questions is yes. Of course Oden is injury prone. Does anyone know what his injury history was in high school?
No... I find it comical how someone would say it doesn't even concern them. He's had questions about health the day he was drafted. Played his entire college season with a bad wrist, get drafted, gets injured and gets micro fracture surgery before he even plays a preseason game. Out for the season. Comes into camp, rolls his ankle. Then, he gets injured again less than two quarters into his first real NBA game. Out for 2-4 weeks... Yeah if that doesn't raise a flag then nothing will. I'm not gonna say Oden's gonna be plagued with injuries his entire career, but he hasn't shown anything to ease the concerns about his health. He hasn't proven a single thing in the league. He can't even prove he can stay healthy.
Bulls fans already saw this with Tyson Chandler with a freak back injury taking out him (and then a freak esophagus infection). And Tyson Chandler was much, much, better than what Greg Oden has shown so far.
IDK. I know he tore a ligament in his wrist his senior year of high school, but I can't find anything past that.
Agreed. How can you deny it? He has had some type of injury every year for 3 years running now. That's what I'd call injury prone.
it's hilarious to see people equate this injury which has him out 2-4 weeks to surgery that had him miss a season and a wrist injury that took away half a season of college ball for him. i guess go ahead and call him injury prone if you'd like. none of his injuries have been remotely similar. none have thus far been reoccurring. none of them are "prone" to happen again. like i said, bad luck.
May be bad luck, but it isn't wrong for us to suspect that he is injury prone. I mean we don't have much to talk about him for now. It's speculation yes, but it could be a problem. I emphasize could. I personally, if I was the owner of Portland, would be concerned. Not panicking, but concerned.
