Yeah, we don't hear much about those "evil speculators" now, do we?

Well, we should enjoy these prices while they last. Prices are going back up to $4.00 in short measure.

This is per gallon, right? In the UK the lowest I've seen is 96.9p per litre, which is $1.57 per litre, which is $5.93 per US gallon. You don't know how good you have it, even at $4 per litre.

I was just about to say that. We've had petrol cuts too though.

Bullshit. The only difference between the US and Europe regarding petrol costs is government taxation.

If we are paying less than half of what some European countries are, now are we not in a better position than they are?

We pay the same amount. The government taxes it more. It's the fault of the governments in those countries, not that the American consumer is lucky.

Hmmm. Kind of makes you wonder about those price-fixing allegations last summer against "Big Oil". I guess OPEC must not be as good at it now as they were in June.

I know oil about as much as Jed Clampett, so I'm not sure how OPEC affects oil companies or their exact relationship. But I think the big oil corps are still looking good. God Bless Texas

Wasn't their a deal by then Chrysler about being locked into 2.99/gallon for as long as you own the car . . . or something like that.

Sounded attractive at the time . . . now, not so much.

I've been told that gas is going to start going back up right after the election.
