Our offense is easily rattled and often confused. We put too much on Roy and when he goes to the bench our offense only gets worse if we aren't running. The solution is obtaining a Vet PG. I know I'm in the minority here but I like the thought of Jason Kidd. Our youth is our downfall in close games. We could balance that out with a good veteran PG weather it's Kidd or somebody else.
We weren't going to win anything this year, anyway. There's NO reason to disrupt the future by giving up value to get a player that's superior to Blake just for this season. Ed O.
Playing with good vets only helps the development of our youth. Steve Blake is a fringe starter. The PG spot is really killing us right now.
Our offense has been frustrating. This year and last. There just seems to be no identity. Our sets are horrible, and I don't know if that is Steve's fault, or if Nate just doesn't know how to coach a good offensive program. Remember that Nate was never a good offensive player when he played. He was basically a taller version of Blake with better offensive players around him. Seattle never did anything with him as the starter. Look, I hate to bag on Nate, but I'm really starting to wonder and question how good of coach he really is. He is a leader, but can he coach? One good season with Seattle does not make a great coach.
It certainly didn't kill us tonight. I thought Blake and Sergio each did a pretty good job. LA and Frye were ineffective on the glass and Roy had problems handling the ball... the reason he's playing the PG is to get Rudy on the floor. Adding a veteran PG won't help get Rudy more minutes. Ed O.
If we stand pat, making the playoff next season is still anything but a certainty. This is the West, we can't take anything for granted. We need soild upgrades in both offense and defense and it's clear that TO and Raef might help fetch us a player we need.
Steve shot the ball well but our offense sucked. Over dribbling and the bail out plan is to give it to Roy with 5 seconds to spare to create something. We need a PG who can be a calming influence. We're just a very erratic team right now.
i actually thought blake just took up space most of the night. i'm not a big fan of this idea, but if roy and rudy are our two best players, then they just have to be on the court together at crunch time, and i think that means turning roy into a PG full time. either that, or hope rudy can play the 3 in a very small lineup. i'm not seeing many other options. my question is: is roy actually a good PG?
I like this thinking, much better than bringing in more inexperienced, potential. Bibby would fit the role too, someone to just bring a little more savy to our offense.
If we get a PG, who finishes games? PG, Roy, Batum, LMA, Oden How do you get Rudy in there? He's gotta be out there at the end of games even though he missed tonight.
Yep. Look what has happened to the Hawks since they got Bibby. Of course, the Celtics proved last season that you don't need a vet PG to win it all.
The same player would finish out the games - Brandon Roy. Why would that change? And we can run a PG/Rudy/Roy lineup and we would be fine.
The Celtics are a team full of vets. In their starting five, Rondo was the only one who was a bit green. He was surrounded by 10+ year vets with the exception to Perkins.
Yep led them to their first playoff berth in what,.. ten years? As for the Celts that shows what experience (big 3) will do for you.
