So what do C's fans think? Does AI make the Pistons more or less dangerous? I can see it being either one. It depends on how they develop their chemistry. Iverson gives them a dynamic scorer who is capable of going off for 20 pts in a quarter. That's something they've been missing. A guy who can blow up often. Sure Chauncey, Rip, Sheed and even Prince could have a good night, but not as prolifically as Iverson can. He can take a quarter over and be the entire offense when needed. On the Piston's he won't have to do it often, but it's a nice option to have. A lot of ppl think he's too selfish to be a PG, and to an extent he is, but he still avg over 6 apg so I wouldn't call him a complete ball hog, he just feels confident in his ability to score the most. The Pistons lose a bit on defence, but AI is not that bad on D, he's just not very good like Chauncey was. I think that if AI can figure out his role on the team and Sheed still gets enough touches they will be a very tough out come playoff time. They have a whole year to get the chemistry down, it's a veteran team and AI is a vet who wants to win.
The Pistons are less dangerous now. Iverson playing point guard for your team is not a recipe for success, nor is putting Iverson in a style of ball much less beneficial for him than Denver's offense.
It's not going to work, and I think they know that. For them it was a way to clear salary while remaining competitive and keeping fans excited.
