I keep hearing the broadcasters talking about this. I think Frank is going to screw this team up again. I dont see why he has to limit the PT for just 9 guys. Harris/Dooling VC/Hayes Simmons/Najera Yi/ Boone/Lopez This just doesnt make sense. Anderson should be getting PT. As bad as Sean Willaims has played, he should get some more PT too. Why lose a game and guys not get any burn? I could understand if it was a close game. We lost this game in the 3rd quarter. I dont get Frank. Swift and Hassel shouldnt get PT of Anderson. When CDR gets back he needs to be in the rotation too.
There is such a thing as learning the right way. You don't just get out on the court and miraculously know how to play. Watching guys that know what they are doing will help the guys on the bench and playing alongside 3 or 4 guys that know what they are doing will benefit the guys who do get on the court. Development Priority #1: Yi Jianlian Development Priority #2: Brook Lopez Whatever they can do to maximize their development is what the team will do. Even if it delays and comes or comes at the expense of Anderson and Swat's development. Brook playing with Najera is going to help him more than playing with Anderson... for now.
Under Frank and Brian Hill, is there such a way. As far as who is priority between Yi or Brook that is arguable. I agree with you on having Najera in to show the guys, but besides Najera, who are these people you speak of. Simmons going to show Anderson how to play the 3? Not getting Anderson in this game early was some Frank Matchup BS.
I'm saying both are a priority. They are the main priority and giving Anderson meaningful minutes will only make it harder to develop those 2 guys because they need stability around them. One guy on the court that needs help learning what to do will get better faster if he is surrounded by four guys that know what they are doing. Two guys needing help playing alongside three veteran guys gets a little harder. Three guys needing help and it just takes a lot longer, frustrates the veterans, and the guys trying to learn start getting down on themselves. I would think the goal is to get Yi comfortable with the starters and let Lopez learn the ropes with the 2nd unit. Hopefully come mid-season Yi is comfortable, Lopez can be moved in with the starters, and Yi can be a help to Lopez. Once those two are established and have a good idea what they are doing they will look at Anderson. In the meantime it will be game to game with him. If there is an area Anderson can help then he will get out there. Also, Anderson is a 4, not a 3. He can play it in spot minutes, but defensively he can't guard players like Butler, Granger, Prince, Barnes, or Maggette. And he certainly can't swap with Yi because he can't guard them either. Maybe he can switch with Najera, but again it can only be in spot minutes. When playing against a small line-up (like a Diaw and Hill forward combo) its hard.
