I loved Drugstore Cowboy because I thought it captured Portland better than any other movie. However, one of my favorites is "The Zero Effect" with Bill Pullman like you've never seen him. Hilarious.

Yeah, who knew he would grow up to be the most successful one of the four main actors? And I use the term "successful" lightly. -Pop
Anyone see Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park? It was OK. Kind of skateboarding whodunnit.......whatever that means.
River Phoenix He was much more acclaimed and not in a Bop magazine sort of way. Edit: I also believe he spent some of his youth growing up in Oregon. Born in Madras.
I hate to quibble, but The Shining was not filmed in Oregon. An exterior shot of Timberline Lodge was seen for about 5 seconds, and that's it. Everything else was filmed in Colorado or in England. The interior shots of the Overlook Hotel were all done on a soundstage somewhere in the U.K. They built the set from scratch. By the way, I love The Shining. It's one of my all-time favorite films.
Hear No Evil (1993) starring Marlee Matlin and Martin Sheen, and All The Young Men (1960) starring Alan Ladd and Sidney Portier were both filmed at Timberline Lodge (and other Oregon locations).
Yea, his parents were some kind of weird hippie type religion thing and they were raised for a short time in a van in close to the Metolius River kind of near Camp Sherman. Then they decided to move to LA where most their kids became actors.
Who can forget (us old folks anyway) when Rachel Welch came to town back in 1972 filming Kansas City Bomber?
I was watching the 'Sasquatch Gang' today on Starz and the area looks really familiar. Did a quick search and the entire movie was filmed in Portland and West Linn.
