Look at Sebastian Telfair... averaging 10 points, 7 assists and only 1 turnover. Maybe we should have picked him up this summer? Randy Foye is averaging 9.2 points and 5.5 assists, so that is a nice little PG platoon they have going there in Minny... not that they're winning games, though... CJ Watson: 3.4 apg DeMarcus Nelson: 1.4 apg Marcus Williams: 3.5 apg Not getting much from the PG spot here... Jax is averaging 5.7 apg, but he's also ranked 3rd in the leauge in TO at 3.9 per game. So his ast/TO ratio is 1.48, good for 61st in the league. This is mainly because, it seems, Jax is just careless with the ball. Plain and simple. He often makes one-handed passes off the dribble (which don't allow you to "take back" the pass at the last second if needed), and he often tries to thread passes between three defenders' sets of legs. Sometimes these are pretty bounce pases for a Beans' dunk... just as often they are ugly turnovers... Also, he often goes bull-dozer style into three defenders, flailing helplessly as he loses the ball, barks at the ref and lets his man run free at the other end... not only is this a senseless TO but poor transition defense in not getting back... He's the leader so he better expect to get ripped for poor play... Hey, CJ Watson is ranked 7th in the league in ast/TO ratio at 4.0... way to take care of the ball, CJ! At least that's a plus... Maybe Jax should stop trying to be a Kobe/Nash hybrid? Maybe he should go back to being a SG and let Watson be the PG? Minny has a nice big man tandem with Jefferson/Love... Mike Miller is a good piece for the inside-out... but they don't look like they have much else right now... GS should get this game tonight... Maybe Randolph can break out in front of the home crowd?
Considering how past big men have performed against this team, I'd predict that Jefferson and Love have monster games. The Warriors, may be lucky to get this game. But maybe I am projecting the Warriors play to be similar to their last game, which would mean they'd never win a game... (at least not until Maggette, Harrington, and/or Ellis return). But Telfair has only played 3 games this season. I don't think he'd be any worse than Demarcus Nelson, so maybe he would had been an ok pickup, but I'm not sure. I liked that Bobby Brown guy. He was good at Fullerton, but was one of those old people in the draft, nobody wanted to use to pick up in the second round. There was another PG like him at Long Beach, about the same year, Aaron Nixon. It was fun watching the LBSU vs Fullerton games. But Bobby Brown's a player.
Dunno. Al Jeff and Love could do some work on our lightweight frontline, Mike Miller and Rashad McCants are W's killers, and like you said their PGs might outperform ours. It won't be easy.
I made a move to AT&T Uverse without looking into CSNBA, what a mistake, the games aren't in HD, and they don't carry the Plus channel. So not only do I not get tonight's game in HD, but I don't even get the game Looks like a Tied House night for me
You can watch it here http://www.nba.com/leaguepass/online.html for free. Today is the last night that it will be free. I ordered it for the season yesterday, since I am not able to watch them on TV. It's really cool. Though, I think you need broadband internet. I hope you have that at least.
All I can say is that Jackson needs to play well for us to win this game. That means low turnovers, obsession with passing the ball inside, and staying away from crappy outside shots. Here are some numbers on Jackson this year over last: Minutes: +7.7% The good: Assists: +39.0% The bad and the ugly: Turnovers: +44.4% Rebounds: -9.3% Personal fouls: +47.8% Steals: -15.4% FG%: -2.7% 3FG%: -8.7% 3P Attempts: +20.3% FT%: -7.2% In general the Warriors need to learn how to swing the ball around the perimeter until they find an open man outside or a good look to pass inside. Look how effectively the Grizzlies and Kings did that to us. They just kept moving the ball around and eventually they got a wide open look or a lane because all it takes is one mistake or not keeping up with the ball on defense to make that happen, and if you move the ball enough, it inevitably will happen. The Warriors just tend to make at most one or two passes and then someone decides it's enough and time to jack up a shot or drive into the teeth of the defense -- they aren't disciplined and patient enough to wait for the right opportunity.
Side note: who would have predicted the Warriors would lead the NBA in blocks per game and be #7 in rebounding? Crazy times...
Jax = way too much dribbling. Though he did put up 30 points... Warriors had terrible defense at times, mixed with stretches where they locked down and enabled a comeback (specifically 4th quarter when they came back from down ~ 10 points). Ball movement is still ugly... Morrow has the golden stroke with that jumper... Randolph showed flashes of talent mixed with moments of confusion... Beans is the franchise guy... Good win for GSW!
Biedrins from the line, very nice. Nice hustle on the glass. Even though only went 3-9 from the field, love his decisiveness in making his moves. I think that will pay off in the long run as he becomes a consistent 15-10 guy. Brandon and the little hook. That is his ticket to 18-20 ppg. It will/is unstoppable. Now he needs that decisiveness that Biedrins has found. His hustle was off though at times. Late in the game Mike Miller (!) outjumped him when Brandon had inside position for a key rebound. How in the world does that happen, ever? SJax should not be bringing the ball up after a defensive rebound, ever, he's too slow with the delivery upcourt. Hit huge shots, yes, and free throws. Good D. Need more rebounding. Morrow and Marco provided key buckets from the outside. Turiaf, nice offensive and a block or two, how about some more glass work? CJ pretty good job as the PG. Unlike Jax, he will deliver the upcourt pass on the fast break (see last bucket in regulation). He should not be the primary option with the shot clock running down on the pick and roll though, jumper just not good enough. Warriors played the zone well though at the end, because Wright and Biedrins were active and the Wolves were horrible on the perimeter, both in how they passed and how they shot the ball.
we do shoot the ball a hell of a lot though, i'd be interested to see how we rank in rebound disparity...do we get outrebounded by our opponents??? same goes for blocks, we initiate high tempo play, so there's more shots to block...i dunno, maybe i'm being pessimistic lol
i realize that, im just saying, we play in games that probably average a lot more field goal attempts than most other games being played around the league. so i'm saying, maybe RPG and BPG stats are kind of skewed for us, so if we average 30 RPG as a team, but our opponents average 45 RPG against us (even if they only average 25 rpg against all the other teams), does that make us a good rebounding team?? i don't know if i'm making sense or not lol
