Ah. Good one. I CAN wait as well. :)

I think everyone was a little caught off guard, including the team and Greg himself. To be honest, on paper that schedule sounded like a good idea. Everyone was swinging for the fences as they began to see Greg's rehabilitation on schedule! I was really liking his progress in Preseason and so were many of you. No one was prepared that Greg would sprain his ankle and that all the momentum built up would be dashed away.

We're coming around, slowly, to the fact that Greg is going to need more time to adjust. Caveman Gavin and Neanderthal Chad evidently can't comprehend this.

These NBA games move so much faster than he's accustomed to. But, as soon as his conditioning catches up with his talent, we'll begin seeing 3 minute, 6 minute and quarter-long stretches of what we saw from him at the end of the first/beginning of the second Wednesday night.

By the way, for all the work that Wheels does on behalf of the team, if he's ever a guest on the O-Live Quick Chat, it's worth a listen. He really takes off his homer hat and just talks hoops. He's one of my favorite guests they have.

    SHIIIITT!!!

I listened to the podcast of the Wheels conversation... Wheels fucking LAID HIM OUT! Gavin got freakin' pummeled.

Then Gavin cuts him off and takes a break and comes back and tells us how concerned we should be. How his emotional approach should be concerning... really? Dude, Freakin' GO had the same approach at Ohio St. and did fine. Thats who he is... he is different on the court than off the court... He is a physical player. It isn't like he shys away from contact.

Damn, i'm a pretty big MSP fan, because he talks Blazers, but it pissed me off that he cut wheels off without letting Wheels know he had to go and letting Wheels say bye or something.

Oden will be fine, and DAMN. Once he starts dominating i can't freakin' wait to rub it in Gavin's face... I might call in for that. It does make me somewhat happy that people have been jumping off the bandwagon though, idk why.

Your assuming Gavin will be there ;) I'm upset that he did that to Wheels he's the main reason I listen in the morning so I can get my Blazer fix.

^^hahaha.. once Wheels asked Gavin "How old are you?"... Gavin said "32".. and Wheels didn't really follow up to that question or explained why he asked it. That was pretty hilarious.

No I thought he was clear on why he asked the question. It has to do with the way coverage has changed in sports due to the internet and 24/7 sports talk radio and TV. Therefore players are discussed 24/7 and hosts find themselves having to come up with something to fill the airwaves and blogs. Makes it tough on the players.
It has gotten ugly. Being still farely young, Gavin has basically grown up in that environment. It's all he knows.

    You're probably right. Good call.
Still found it funny how Gavin tried to bully around Wheels but Wheels bullied him back.

It was a lively discussion, nothing more, nothing less.

And really, why do we care so much what a few media people think of Greg's chances to be a good/great player? Gavin may or may not be deliberately pulling on the puppet strings to get people riled up, but if he is then he's done a damn fine job.

I like Gavin, but Chad in Portland is an idiot. I would prefer seeing Gavin with Kenny in the morning. The thing about Gavin is that he is a fan. He loves basketball and the Blazers. He gets to high on the team and too low. Some times I think MIXUM and Gavin are the same guys. But Gavin did show a lack of class this morning with Wheels. I think Wheels pissed him off when he asked Gavin how old he was, but he was clowning Gavin by lambasting him on making a judgement on Greg after 1.5 games.

I already posted this in the 11/11/4 thread, but it really belongs here:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_CCUOy8fHjc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_CCUOy8fHjc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

How's that for getting his feet up of the ground you freakin' idiot. And that block came after Oden had played 22 minutes. So much for Dawson's rant that Oden can't even play 16 minutes and be effective. Everything Dawson said yesterday was thrown right back in his face by Oden's performance last night.

radio guys stirring the pot... thats what they do. The hardcore fans will tune in for anything, it's the largely the radio guys job to engage the casual fan by pushing buttons. So many of our longest threads are started by similar :NOTMARIS:verreactions

Both of those guys are complete tools! I can't stand that they refer to themselves using the nicknames like "The People's Champ", "CIP", or "The Body". What idiots. I have to admit that I do like Canzano's show sometimes. I don't like it when he gets on his social commentary shticks, but overall it's a pretty good show. I love his Tuesday interviews with Quizz!

The problem with this theory is that being a total idiot, putting down a local player all the fans are pulling for, and being rude to Brian Wheeler is going to lose them some of the hardcore fans that make up the core of their listeners. I know I won't be listening to the MSP Boys during my morning commute any longer after the way they have been acting lately. Yesterday's ill-informed, anti-Oden rant and rude treatment of a class act like Brian Wheeler was the final straw for me. Dawson and Doing can have their Jim Rome-wannabe attitudes and crappy show, I'd personally rather tune into the morning hog report than listen to that crap.

I was speaking in macro terms. I'm a pretty hardcore Blazer fan myself and yet I don't listen to the MSP with any regularity... heck there are several writers at the O who I won't click on their links. The pretend drama/soap opera stuff is not for me but obviously it is interesting for lots of others.

There's a difference between interesting and offensive, or just plain stupid. I haven't read Canzano's column in years. I used to be an Oregonian subscriber, and now pick-up a copy of the paper about once a month to read the movie reviews in the A&E section. If their childish shtick and rude behavior continues to drive away their core listeners, Gavin and Chad will soon go the way of their predecessors on the MSP - and deservedly so.

The whole La Familia shtick is so junior high, but I could at least tolerate it until they started to become total idiots. Now their whole show consists of blathering on about some ridiculous "take" to generate "controversy" and then proceeding to insult and hang-up on all the callers that disagree with them. No thanks.

This escalating idiocy, combined with blatant on-air sucking-up to their boss smacks of desperation. Could the MSP boys be in danger of cancellation? One can only hope. Perhaps losing some of their core listeners as result of their stupid anti-Oden rants and rude treatment of Brian Wheeler will get those two tools off the air for good.

Anyone here ever seen Mike Judge's (Office Space, Beavis/Butthead, etc) "Idiocracy"?

    Look around 28 sec. into the clip. For some reason this is the guy I think of when I hear his rants. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/y0O7_3o3BrI&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/y0O7_3o3BrI&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
