From an outsider’s perspective, I’m not as enthusiastic on the Nets future as you are. All because they have Yi and Lopez locked up doesn’t mean they will be good enough to attract LeBron. Your PF of the future is currently shooting 38% from the field and Lopez is only putting up 6/5. Your mention of the Nets’ first round picks just adds credence to the fact they are rebuilding, a phase which lasts more than two years. And two years is the only time the Nets have to get their act together for LeBron. Also what happened to Swat? Wasn’t he heralded as the next Amare Stoudemire last year by Nets fans? Why isn’t he in the equation?

We still have two years left which is enough time to unload some contracts. Randolph has been on a rampage this season (20/13) and has renewed interest from some teams including the Clippers, Bulls, and Grizzlies. The Knicks might find a way to unload him. In addition, Walsh can use Lee as bait to unload a bad contract before the deadline.

As for the “true center” it doesn’t matter. D’Antoni is known for playing small ball and being effective with it. What matters is if the Knicks are losing or winning, and so far they have been doing the latter. And while we’re on the subject, D’Antoni is well liked amongst most players, including LeBron. I don’t see LeBron being too eager to play for Lawrence Frank.

I’m not too sure on that rule. Our pick is lottery protected this year and I’m pretty sure we can trade it if we want. If we make the playoffs this year, it goes to Utah and we keep our 2010 pick. And the Knicks acquired a second round pick in 2009 for Renaldo Balkman.

Remember, we’re looking two years into the future. There’s plenty that can change salary-wise for both teams, especially with them sharing a similar goal: LeBron.

The Knicks have always been and will always be New York’s team. MSG will always be the mecca of basketball. So if LeBron signs with the Knicks he will be the biggest star, in the biggest market, on the biggest stage. The Nets, even if they move to Brooklyn, will never represent New York. They will be sort of what the Clippers are to LA. They might not even move period. I don’t see any reason why he would play there other than the fact he and Jay-Z are apparently BFF’s.

NI is 100 percent right on this IMO. If the Nets are a year from moving LeBron could still come if the Nets' price is competitive.

If they're not moving, well that's a whole different story all together. There's no way the Nets would be in contention.

Wasn't Sonny Vaccaro was the jerk that threatened the Nets if they took Kobe Bryant that he wouldn't suit up for them.

People read too much in to Hova's and Lebron friendship.

Friends is friends but business is business.

Dame Dash and Jaz-O are perfect examples.

I can see Lebron playing for the Nets but it depends where Cleveland is at. Lebron wants the same thing Kobe and Wade have a ring. Lebron knows he won't be mention with best ever if he doesn't win championships. Not one but multiple.

The whole move to Brooklyn could be a factor but that seems like that will happen around the same time Andre drops Detox, when the Fugees have their Reunion Tour and when Tupac is finally discovered hiding in Cuba.

I think the Nets are in good position but still have an empty spot at the four. Yi with his shoot first mentality and just throwing up shots from beyond.

Sean Williams is way too raw and after a year looks to be an energy player at best

Don't worry about LeBron. Ratner's corporation has just been downgraded to junk status.

I think if it was only for one year or two, I'm sure LeBron woldnt mind playing in Jersey until Brooklyn comes along.

If LeBron doesn't sign with the Knicks because they are not in a position to win, then he's not going to sign with the Nets.

Furthermore, the Knicks have more cap space than the Nets. We have enough to sign 2 max players, so LeBron can rest assure that we have more than enough flexibility to sign help.

If the Nets move Carter, who will be much easier to move than Randolph, they will have even more, while still having more talent than the Knicks.

Why wouldn't he go to the Nets, if he skips over the Knicks because of a chance to win? Devin Harris and Carter are better than anyone the Knicks have. Brook and Anderson have been great. Yi still has all the skills to be the perfect PF complement to Brook, Carter, LBJ, and Devin.

Mr. J is right, the Knicks have enough cap space to potentially sign a Lebron and a Joe Johnson type.

Well, Randolph is four years younger and has been more productive than Vince this season, so that isn't a given. But if they do trade Vince, they are only going to be worse.

I thought you wanted the Nets to trade Carter? Even still, Harris and Carter might be better than anyone on the Knicks, but the fact remains the Nets aren't that good. And they likely won't be next year either, putting them in the same position as the Knicks. Yi might have great skills, but that doesn't change the fact he's been horrible all season. Ryan Anderson and Brook have been looking nice, but they don't seem like they have the type of future that will influence LeBron to sign with the team.

In 4 starts, Lopez is averaging 15 points and 9 rebounds. In the beginning of his rookie year. I fail to see how he is not a difference maker, but the likes of David Lee and Nate Robinson are.

There is not a team in the league that would take Randolph before Carter, and you know it.
