You could make the case for Pierce but he isn't obviously (the point of my list) better than Dirk. Dirk's a more talented player, and he's not THAT bad in the clutch.

Only Kobe and LeBron have outscored Dirk the last few years in Clutch situations.

That's great and all, but that doesn't mean your opinion holds more weight than anyone else's.

First bold, that's completely your opinion. In my opinion, Pierce is more talented.

Second bold, not THAT bad? Dirk is absolutely disgusting and one of my first choices for clutch situations.

    1. Kobe
    2. Dirk
    3. Ray Allen (for shot only)
    4. Brandon Roy
    5. Can't think right now, but I'll edit later with someone else.

Personally, I disagree with Huevon's list of Bosh and Stoudemire before Pierce, but again, entirely my opinion.

The way I see it is, anyone who outplays Kobe in a 7 game series in the NBA Finals, deserves to be in the Top 5. I'm not blind, I saw the finals, so I can understand the arguments for Boston's team defense against Kobe, but I don't think anyone can disagree with Pierce playing some of the smartest, most efficient ball we've seen in the Finals. It hurt as a fan to see him do that to our team.

Uh don't know where to start.

You think Dirk is clutch? Actually so do I, weird... :O

However, 7 game sample size is nothing to me, and they weren't playing the same defense. Stoudemire is having another stud-like season with Nash being off as well, he's the most complete offensive big man in the game.

Pierce isn't in his prime so I don't understand your high praise to be honest.

To clarify, I say Dirk's not "THAT" bad in the clutch in the sense that at the very worst one could say he is only serviceable. I however think Dirk can be quite valuable in these close situations.

Paul Pierce isn't the best player in the Celtics. KG is better then him.

Paul Pierce is a top 5 perimeter player maybe. :[

Edit- Meh he isn't an obvious lock there either.

Yeah, we agree on Dirk, but I wanted to further emphasize your point that Dirk isn't just "not that bad" he's one of the BEST. I actually felt like you downplayed him in the clutch. Btw, I completey forgot LBJ in my Top 5 for clutch, so yeah he's the last one for my list.

About Pierce, I think he's definitely in his prime, he's been in the league for 10 years, if he's ever hit his Prime, it's definitely now.

Ugh, I'm disgusted with myself for backing up this Celtic this much, I'm done now, gonna shut up, I can't even stand Paul Pierce to be honest.

I'm completely down with that, makes sense imo...it's hard to leave out such talented players like Dwight Howard and Amare Stoudemire, so yeah I can dig that statement.

123, KG is REALLY good, I'd say he's Top 10. You don't get regarded as the best Fantasy player for no reason. He does it all.

But there's a reason the C's go to Pierce when they need the best player on the court to step up, and that's why, Pierce is bette than KG at this point right now in their careers.

Dirk has been one of the most talented bigs for years, his only knock was the GSW and Miami series. Of course he's more valuable if his clutchness isn't questioned. You're giving way too much credit to one guy when it was a team effort that slayed the Lakers.

Blowing that GS series did it for me, Dirk let a much smaller player in Stephen Jackson bully him around.
Paul and the C's COULD have folded in their series vs the Hawks but didn't and got their mojo back to beat LeBron and the Cavs in 7 so his playoff performances are what would put him ahead of Dirk in my books.

yeah Dirk led the Mavs to the Finals but that was 3 yrs ago and well... they blew a golden opportunity.

So Pierce has never had bad playoff series? Paul never played poorly against the Pacers in 2004? A bad series is supposed to occur for all players every so often. Magic Johnson lost 4 NBA Finals for example, obviously he's better but that kind of chaos occurs. Plus Dirk wasn't absolutely atrocious at least.

    There's a problem with this.

Boston was an 8th seed that year, no one expected them to upset the 1st seed.

Now, Dirk that year was the regular season MVP and his 1st place team who won 67 freakin games got pwned by the 8th seed Warriors...So yeah, sorry Huevon, don't think it's a valid comparison.

If you win MVP, and your team win 67 wins, you better be able to beat the freakin 8th seed. And the series wasn't even close, Warriors owned them.

Pierce is goot, what else can I say, the guy's a douche but he can play some ball, and apparently the person you referenced (Earvin Magic) agrees.

What does that matter? As a team the Mavs got owned, but Dirk wasn't all-time horrific. Basketball is a game where a Star is going and should get his own production. On an individual basis Paul Pierce failed in that series, and so do various players eventually.

It matters when the guy himself got outplayed in his own matchup with the opposition (S Jax). If the team got waxed and Dirk was the only one bringing it, then fine, I understand, but Dirk choked.

I may be bad mouthing, but Dirk is one of my fav players, so I personally don't care to talk badly about him cuz one series, but there was definite problems with the example you gave.

And lastly, why do people keep bringing up Pierce of 4 years ago? Players get better, especially all-stars, so you can't say Pierce of 4 years ago = Pierce of today. They're completely different players. The latter is more mature, experienced, smarter, and flat out a better player.

To be in his 10th year, after winning Finals MVP last year and say he's not in his prime? Not too sure on that one. It doesn't get more prime than that imo

Well I certainly don't follow your logic if Dirk is so clutch... Yet not clutch.

So what if Dirk sucked? So has everyone at one point, statistics isn't just about having above average stats throughout one's career. There are runs of all kinds consisting of ups and lows. Fact is he wasn't horrific, he choked, but in how many series throughout his career? Anyway, over the last 2 or 3 years, in 4 out of the last 6 seasons, he's been great in clutch situations.

How did Pierce get better last year? He's not in his prime dude...

He isnt in his prime...Finals MVP doesnt prove that he is at all...It proves he had a good series

Boy...you just will not budge... We'll just have to agree to disagree on this I supppose.

But to follow up....Dirk's clutch, but noticed I said "choked," meaning it was kinda a rare occurence. So by that I don't want to take anything away from his clutchness based on one series. He's Top 3 clutch imo, but he simply choked that series. Would that happen again? I wouldn't bet my money on it, but if it did, then he would clearly fall down on my "Clutch List" lol

Granted I don't watch Celtics games on a regular basis, and probably only catch highlights and whatever's on national, but huh? Pierce was a freaking stud last year, hard to argue that.

To me he's in his prime, but if you don't agree that's cool, there is no right answer I suppose. He may actually be still peaking, so you may be right, he could get even better, but I'd say now is his prime.

Oh lol I think you misunderstood me about Pierce too, I was not implying his prime was yet to come. Lol, nice try though. :p
