Here's my question, are you really 6'6 if you only weigh 130 pounds? Seems like Jamal should have a few inches subtracted....
Could Portland and Charlotte step up to help NY out? Randolph to Charlotte. Wallace to Portland. Lafrentz to New York and another player from Portland to Charlotte.
I'm gonna get flamed for this....but I was saying this summer on OLive that I really think Cralawwford and Roy would be nice together. Obviously I'm backing off of that, but only b.c Rudy and Sergio have been better than I thought they would be. Batum's better than I thought he would be. Outlaw's better than I thought he would be. But, talent-wise, if you told me I could trade Blake for Crawford straight up? Half a heartbeat.
Honestly, I just don't see anyway that over the next 70 games that collection of players finishes better than the Blazers. It's a gimmick offense and little to no defense. yes they're talented, but they've taken a group of players all about the same size, all with about the same skill set, and all needing a ton of shots to be effective and decided they can make a run in the west? Not too mention, minus Stephen Jackson, have any of those players ever consistantly played winning basketball before? I just don't think you win basketball games like that, and the Blazers should still be better.
Ha ha ha, ok whatever. The last time I looked, Crawford was a poor shooting volume shooter. He has shot better from the 3 this year, which is a product of being in the D'Antoni system IMO. But I don't see this improving GS, and I don't see him as a better player than Al Harrington. As for his defense, I can't remember a time where Crawfords defense scared anybody. As for Al Harrington wanting out, it was because he was sick of being used as a center in the Golden State lineup and getting his ass handed to him every night. You can complain about his production if you want, but the facts are he was a SF being asked to play center. He will go to the D'Antoni system and excel in the same role Boris Diaw played in Phoenix.
Crawford is a decent player. His inefficient shooting is really what holds down his value. If he scored efficiently, he'd be an excellent player. Same for me.
Yes, that's true. I said he was better than Harrington. His minutes- and pace-adjusted numbers bear that out. Harrington is just as inefficient a scorer, but a worse ball-handler and passer. In terms of PER, Crawford scores a bit higher. So, eiiher you're lock down or useless on defense? His defense might not "scare" people. But most NBA analysts I've seen have considered his defense solid, and that matches what I've seen when I've watched him play.
zebo to clippers is official http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/55595/20081121/clippers_acquire_randolph/
But that's just it Minstrel. Those numbers don't bare that out. They are especially not accurate now that Don Nelson has been using him as a center for the past 3 seasons, where he has been getting abused because he is 6'7" tall. Even if you consider those numbers, Jamaal Crawford only has had one good shooting season since he came into the NBA, that being his second season, in Chicago(cough cough..contract year.). Al Harrington has shot over 45% a majority of his NBA career. His shot selection is usually much better, which leads to the better shooting numbers. So how the fuck can you say the "numbers bear that out"?? They don't.
Are you sure? I mean, his stats look good, but as we know, his defense was a living joke and he was walking bad news.
Well the way I see it, Raef might have just gotten a litttle more valuable as three players with expiring contracts have been taken off the market. (Who else wants to enter the Lebron sweepstakes . . . Phx? . . . Nash is getting old and has a fat contract . . . Lebron with Amare would be scary.)
I have to admit, though...I thought he'd be in a lot more headlines in NYC than he's been. Has he been a good boy? Or does NY have much bigger fish to post on Page Six?
That shouldn't affect his offensive numbers. In Nelson's run-and-gun style, he gets plenty of match-up advantages against bigger, slower players. In addition, Harrington hasn't played his whole career with Golden State. He was dealt from Indiana as something of a salary albatross. The numbers bear out that Crawford has been a more productive player, not that he's an efficient scorer. Their PERs (which account for minutes and pace) show Crawford to have been about an average starter level player most of his career. Outside of his rookie season, he's only been below 15.0 PER once (14.5 PER in 2006-07). PER is normalized such that 15.0 PER indicates an average starter. Since his rookie year, Harrington has been below 15.0 PER in five seasons (I'm not counting seasons of 14.8 and 14.9 PER), including just under 10.0 PER this season. Jamal Crawford's TS% (which is akin to FG% except that it factors in three-pointers being worth more points and the effect of drawing and making free throws) is .514 for his career. Not great, but not awful. Harrington's is .515. So they're almost identical in scoring efficiency. And then in my opinion (and the general opinions I've seen expressed by analysts), Crawford is a better defender than Harrington and solid in general.
im dumb when it comes to salary caps and shit.... why the fuck would anyone want la faerentz or whatever.... hes garbage... theres something im missing and i know it
Since salaries have to match in almost all trades, the easiest way to "dump" salary is to trade a player with a big long-term contract for a player with a big contract that is set to expire at the end of the season. That way you get rid of the years of financial commitment after this year.
Yep. To take it one step farther, not only is Raef's deal expiring at the end of this year, but there's a good chance that insurance will cover a portion of his salary... since cash exchanged in a single trade is capped at $3m, getting Raef is (in addition to the future cap savings Minstrel outlined above) almost like a loophole, getting free cash for the team that acquires him.
