I think that sums it up pretty well. Maggette can be a good player, but like Baron, he too often can't stay away from his worse instincts. Having Maggette playing alongside Jackson is not good IMO.
We're not going to be able to trade Mags this year anyway because of the BYC, but I agree with what you said. Let's see how the team plays out and then decide. I'm not even sure what position we have a greater need -- PG or PF?
We can trade him after December 15 and I believe he has no BYC because we signed him as a UFA. BYC is only for players re-signed by their own teams I think.
Mags is bad at times but Baron/Pietrus/Harrington did a lot of similar things too and they got lots of playing time and less damage at the foul line. That's who Nelly plays, though. If he put Mags in a mostly small forward role and have him stay there and focus on moving the ball inside and not worry about taking outside shots, we wouldn't have that much problem with Mags. I think it's because Nelson is telling his high scorers to start playing Nelly style. That means do whatever, play no defense, and basketball escape having to play a 5 on 5 game. What's really crappy is he's now got Crawford. This will surely muck up the offense a lot more because they now need to learn how to play together and it usually results in less touches for guys we should be getting the ball inside to. F Nelson. If he's the best coach we can do to get this franchise out of the gutter, we're in trouble. I mean even if small ball becomes successful we won't go anywhere because of it. I blame the ownership.
Anyone watching the Cavs game? No. I don't blame you. The Cavs announcers were laughing and calling Mags "Air Mail" because he shot about three air balls. The Cavs have totally shut down the small ball Warriors inside and are running the fast break on them. Whatever you're doing Don Nelson, it's not working.
Yeah, he is awful. He shot AT LEAST 3 airballs, I saw 3 and didn't even watch the whole game. This is just a thoroughly demoralizing game.
