... Trade no one. Let the cake bake. We are 2nd in the west, did anyone think we would be at this point in the season? I didn't. Why trade anyone who has helped us get this far, let's see how far it can go.

We have pumpkins on this team. Even if all you do is trade Diogu for a 2011 2nd, it's kind of useless not to get value for what you have before it's valueless to you. Same for Channing, Travis (to some extent), Blake, and especially Raef's contract.

I agree dpc. I was earlier thinking for sure we could upgrade our roster with LaFrenz and one or two of our players. I still think it is possible but it looks really hard to find the right fit. Tading any of the players that are contributing right now for a futre player like Conley or a player that might help us but walk like Marion just isn't worth messing with the team.:dunno:

I really, really like this trade idea.

It works for all teams involved and the salaries match up!

    Stupendous!!!

Things are rarely as good as you think they are when they're going well and they're rarely as bad as you think they are when they're going poorly.

If Pritchard fails to look at all of his options to continue to improve this team he's going to be making a mistake.

Certainly that does not mean to trade just to trade, but hopefully he's not sitting on his hands merely because the team has had a good couple of weeks.

You're absolutely right on all counts, Ed.

I think I've figured it out . . . I'm not OPPOSED to making trades and I'm definitely for making the team better . . . what makes me batty are the random (and often non-sensical) trade ideas that people pull out of their arsses. Everytime I see one, it's like "Oh no, not another one. I wonder how outlandish this one will be . . . " and I tell myself to just steer clear of it and not even open the thread.

. . . but it's like a car accident - damned morbid curiosity just makes you look anyways (only to confirm your suspicion that it was stupid to do so in the first place)!!!

So, my pre-New Year's resolution: I must and will resist the urge to open any new "trade idea" threads until 2009!!!

I hate to say it, but there's one move that must be done, IMO. I really like Sergio, but I'd rather have a stud defender off the bench at the 1. This will be very important in the Playoffs. Kirk Hinrich would fit in perfectly off the bench.

Use our spare parts (our very good spare parts) and make this happen Pritch!

My philosophy never wavers: Make trades that make the team better, avoid trades that don't.

Obvious, yes, but true. There's never a time to just make trades or swear off making trades. Pritchard should be evaluating every available opportunity at all times and rejecting the ones he doesn't think will help.

And I'm in favor of the sun rising in the morning! C'mon- surely we can get beyond the obvious make a trade if it's good- don't make it if it's bad.

Let's see some more crazy trade ideas (where there are actual trades suggested).

And in the spirit of less generalities- let me assert the following:

    1) Frye must be resigned or traded by the end of the year- or he is a large cap hold.
    2) Outlaw is under contract for next year at a reasonable price- we don't have to trade him.
    3) Ike is not worth a bag of chips- so it's not really necessary to include him in trades.
    4) Raef should only be traded if he can do better than a player that we could sign next year with his cap space. Specifically- next year would could realistically sign Boozer at power forward, Bibby at the point, Artest or Marion at small forward, and have a pipe dream of signing Kobe.
    5) Given that Boozer will be available, we have to consider Aldridge potentially as trade bait for a Devon Harris type talent- i.e. Harris and Boozer are worth more than Aldridge by himself.

Thus speaketh the anonymous one. Oh...and the sun will shine tomorrow.

If that's comment on what I said, the reason I posted it was because apparently it is not obvious to everyone. There appear to be people suggesting that Pritchard simply place a moratorium on all trades for Portland.
