Sources indicate that the Timberwolves are trying to trade shooting guard Rashad McCants after he has fallen out of the rotation as of late. The Timberwolves have had discussions with the Bobcats about a trade that would send the former UNC star back to North Carolina where he is a fan favorite.

If the Bobcats somehow reunite Felton, McCants, and May, it'd be awesome and disappointing at the same time.

Dear God...I hope it isn't for Morrison....although if it's a a deal to pull Felton to Minnesota...it could be interesting.

Although I can see that if the Bobcats are wanting draft picks and cap space this fits as an option:

I brainstormed this deal with several factors in mind:

    Minnesota trades:
    R. McCants - 2.6 mil
    C. Brewer - 2.7 mil
    J. Collins - 6.2 mil
    1st Round pick

    Charlotte trades:
    G. Wallace - 9.5 mil
    S. May - 2.6

    http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=4843419

Why this would work for the teams:

Minnesota: Gets a versitile player that would produce better playing his more natural SF position. With Wallace the Wolves get an agressive attitude player who can make his own shot. In May they get a player that Charlotte wants to get rid of...who if he can get back in shape can help with the boards inside...if not, 'Sota will just let him go and not pick up the team option for next year.

Charlotte: In McCants they get a local hero who may blossom under familure surroundings...if anything he's always good for 15+ points of the bench. With Brewer they get a high potential replacement for Wallace at a fraction of the price, and with team options for the next two years he would be a great deal. Jason Collins is only a stop gap player, able to help out inside....his real value comes at the expense of the 6.5 mil that drops off the books this off season. The 1st Round pick is something Minnesota can spare (with a potential 4 1st Rounders this year!) and it's something that would sweeten the deal for Charlotte.

Well....hit this up with some responses!

All in all I see this working well for both teams.

Minnesota gets an established starter who's still in his prime, who would match up well with the interior presence of Big Al and with his slashing ability can really open up things for Miller. And if things don't work out, Miller's 9+mil comes off the books for the 2010 free-agent class...so they will have flexability to look elsewhere

Charlotte gets a nice package of youth, upside and cap relief for two players they have been rumored on trying to deal since this off-season. McCants and Brewer both have great upside for this rebuilding team along with the draft pick. And everyone knows how much teams covet cap space now-a-days and 6.5 mil is a pretty penny.

I like it other than the first rounder. Not only am I tired of giving them up, but with the state the team is in, every draft pick is important, especially ours. Now if it is one of the first rounders, say the Celtics, that is another story. But even there I don't think that just Wallace and May are worth it when we can make so much noise in the draft if we hold on to these picks and move them around on draft night.

Wallace is worth your first round picks, otherwise McHale will just screw it up again like he does every year

Of course I wasn't meaning one of Minnesota's top picks, but the Celtics...lol. As for Wallace, I'd rather make a deal for him...since he's pretty much what we we're hoping Brewer was gonna end up like, but due to his lack of scoring punch, will be hard pressed to become. May was just a way to sweeten the deal for Charlotte since they been wanting to get rid of him. 'Sota can just let him walk this off season. But your right, with the health history of Wallace maybe can swing the trade without giving up the 1st rounder...maybe one of our two 2nd rounders?

I'm just saying that Wallace would make a great addition to our team...his slashing, Big Al inside and Miller outside = sick!!! lol

With the recent news that Rashad McCants is on the trading block and that the T'Wolves have had talks with the Bobcats about McCants, here are the players that could be involved in a possible trade.
    Timberwolves
-McCants-Former UNC star, fan favorite in North Carolina
    -Collins-Expiring Contract 6.2 mil
    -Booth-Expiring Contract 1.1 mil
-Brewer-Bobcats need Defense and Brewer still has plenty of potential
-2009 1st round pick-T'Wolves have plenty to give up
    Bobcats Trade
-Gerald Wallace-Has been on the block for a while. Would be a great compliment to Big Al at the SF position. Great all around player that is much more talented and polished than Brewer.
-Raymond Felton- Has not lived up to all the hype in Charlotte and they drafted another PG this year in Augustin.
-Adam Morrison- McHale was very high on this guy.

    Most Likely Outcome
T'Wolves trade McCants, Collins, 1st round pick
    Bobcats trade Wallace

Both teams benefit in this situation. The Bobcats bring home a fan favorite with plenty of scoring potential and also free up some cap in the meantime. The T'Wolves get another solid piece to put around Al Jefferson that instantly improves their ball club without giving up too much.

I like that deal better, but I wonder if we drop the draft pick and add Brewer instead...I'd rather keep the draft pick....and like Tim mentioned before, give us the option to move up on the draft board if need be...to get Blake Griffin to play center!!!

It doesn't look like a trade is going to happen. McHale and Jordan discussed the state of their teams prior to the game, but obviously no one knows what was said. The game tonight could definitely re-spark the supposed trade talks that have taken place.

Not so much with Collins, but with the 6.5 mil in cap space he gives them after this season along with a draft pick

All good things, but the article says they're trying to solve their problems at the 5, and Collins definitely isn't the answer.

lol....too true. I'm thinking they just want McCants back in Carolina and they may move Wallace and Collins contract in another deal to get someone else?...hmmmm That would make sense too. I'm sure the Clippers with thier two centers wouldn't mind the cap space

Either way, with the loss of Brewer for the season and Foye not doing that bad anymore....'Sota should forget Felton and target Wallace instead.

Then Charlotte can send Felton and Collins to the Clips for Kaman.....everyone's happy!!!
