I was down about Greg not playing as well as I'd like him to play. I have high expectations every game and when he doesn't play all that well, I get worried. But at other times, I see he should win ROY and will be better than Bynum in the long run if not sooner. I slipped into pessimism for a moment and you all know I'm mostly optimistic. I don't want this to be me vs you guys. I'm in the same boat as all of you. I want the Blazers to play well and win. And that includes Oden. I messed up. I was wrong. Forgive me. And let's move on. Please. Thank you.

    Go Blazers

I started a thread about Oden being better than Bynum. I talked on my YouTube show about giving Oden time, that Kobe and KG didn't explode early in their careers. I just slipped in one thread with a couple sentences and now I'm the enemy. I apologize.

Nothing to forgive, just disagreed with you. You are entitled to your opinion and entitled to change it.

    No worries, dude...

In fact, I think most of the people were poking fun b/c you flip from being optimistic to "Oden's a bust". I know you're in the middle, and so do the vast majority of them. It's humorous sometimes, but I'm the pot calling the kettle black when it comes to popular opinion on here.:)

Keep posting, and get the "good" average back up!

This is the reason why I make sure I have a bucket of fresh popcorn whenever I see that you've started a thread. . .

the truth is....you said what we all have thought in our heads for a long time.

"oden is a bust" is like saying the "lebrons going to NY" some things are touchy to certain fan bases when they know its a good chance to actually happen.

no fan wants to hear that BUT...deep down...they have said it themselves.

personally i think oden ends up as a solid center who plays defense...but to say hes gonna be shaq or duncan is just laughable at this point. its not even close or ever will be.

Eric, Eric, Eric. Don't sweat it. We know you have some highs (mostly highs) and the occasional low. Everyone knows you are a huge Blazers fan and a pretty good guy. Most of those guys were just having some fun with you. For anyone who may have been mean-spirited about it -- fuck 'em. Who cares? Besides, I read your original post and I didn't think you were saying Greg was some kind of bust -- only that his performance so far might raise a few flags to some objective observers. Unfortunately, most of us aren't very objective on the subject. I am in the camp who thinks he's doing very well, all things considered, and I think he'll develop nicely. But that's certainly open to opinion. Remember, although tonight will be a big test for Mr. Greg Oden, it's not his final exam.

What those of the fan base without a sense of perspective or a good grasp of the numbers have been thinking for a long time.

Speak for yourself, mixum. I don't think you're qualified to do anything beyond that. You don't exact have your finger on the pulse of Blazer nation most of the time.

Acknowledging there's always the possibility of anyone being a bust, is completely different than thinking there's a "good chance" he's a bust.

Kingspeed, there's nothing to apologize for.

    I have never thought this.

I have no idea who he will be, though I am thinking Nate Thurmond is probably the closest analog to what I think Oden is capable of. Thurmond averaged 15 points and 15 rebound per game for his career. No one knows about blocks, since they didn't track them when he played. Since he was selected to the all defensive team 7 times in his career, I am guessing he averaged quite a few.

Whatever man. You showed your true colors. I'm going to go post comments on your Youtube clips and let the whole world know that you are a GO hater!

    LOL, just kidding.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I don't think you have anything to apologize for, KingSpeed. But you also should remember this when you're chastizing someone for being down on a Blazer. We all get down on players at times...sometimes for better reasons, sometimes for worse reasons.

    It's all good . . . board wouldn't be the same without you . . . keep posting.

(BTW-I think I know how you feel. If I say anything negative against the Blazers, I get challenged about it and then I respond ect ect. By the end I hate the position I took because I'm always pulling for all the Blazer players to play well and feel like my posts sound as if I want a Blazer player to do bad.)

In time, Greg will play well enough to please even the most critical of Eric's many diverse internet sportsfan personalities.

It takes a big man to admit he's wrong....... and an even bigger man to point a finger at him and say, "I told you so. Why won't you listen to me? You're such a freakin' loser".

    But, I'm not that man.

Keep posting Speed. Whether your posts are optimistic or pessimistic, they are always entertaining.

Wonder what happens when you mix KingSpeed's extreme optimism with Mixum's extreme pessimism....
