Well, the wait is over Jax went 2-14. That's really bad. Crawford went 1-7, that's the same percentage. Together they were 3-21. That's really bad.
It was ugly but the kids made a bit of a run at the end to make it interesting, except they kept shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers, blown layups, etc. With both Wirght and Turiaf out (not to mention Ellis and Maggette), they really never had much of a chance to begin with. I actually thought Biedrins would foul out before halftime.
i just hope that biedrins doesn't get sick of shagging everybody's dumb shots, and trying to make them look halfway decent and want to get traded. he and watson are currently my heroes...
For a player who was so concerned with his hand being hurt and needing serious help, I am amazed about how many shots he has taken the last two games. It doesn't seem to make much sense. I guess, at least half of his shots weren't 3 point attempts, like Marco, or like in past appearances. Randolph had a good showing, and they limited the amount of offensive rebounds the Rockets got. The Warriors even made more FGs than the Rockets. They just didn't get to the line enough, I guess, or shoot a high enough percentage. The Warriors were the team getting the offensive boards. They shot and amazing 107 FGs in the game. I don't recall seeing so many shots by one team in a game before, especially one that didn't go into overtime.
After 2 good games, Marco went back to shooting off-balance, fade a way 3s. Ray Allen doesn't do that crap. His hitting that behind the backboard HORSE shot last game was the worst thing that could have happened. Now he's back to thinking he can just throw it up anytime, regardless of whether it's a good shot. Nellie's probably going to leave him on the bench for a quite a few more games while not saying anything to Jax or crawford. The commentatot made a good point last night when he said that it was wrong for Nellie to get pissed at Marcus for taking a transition 3 (even though it was a bad shot and killed whatever momentum we had) when he allows everyone else to do it. I wish he would go extreme the other way and go with a 10 man rotation and have a very short leash. Take a bad shot, go to the bench, don't play D, go to the bench. It would be really frustrating for the players for a few games but I think they'd get the message pretty quick. On a positive note, Kurz looked decent and Randolph looked great. Although I just about given up on Randolph ever being a 3. He was actually guarding Yao last night! He will end up being a bust even though he is enormously talented because Nellie won't put him in a position to succeed.
Just wait till Maggette comes back. This team will average like 140 FGs per game. Of course, they'll only make about 20 per game (Biedrins 8-12, rest of team 12-128), but who cares?
LOL. Well I think the high FGs shot was because of the Warriors attacking the offensive glass. I guess a lot of it also had to do with players like Randolph missing a shot, getting his own rebound, then putting up another shot closer to the basket. I think that happened a bunch of times. I don't think Maggette cares about attacking the offensive glass that hard. So I don't know if that will happen if he comes back.
I dunno. IMO, Maggette LOVES to attack the offensive glass -- he does so by throwing the basketball at it from 20 feet away... "Take this backboard!...*wham*...and this!...*thud*...and that!....*pow*
Really bad game, but what can you do? Our 2nd and 3rd best bigs are out. Guys like Kurz will do okay, but we need a strong defensive center in the mix, not a forward. Jax continues to play through the pain, but what should really be happening is he should be shutting it down. Jax has been sux lately and he's not staying too focussed on the game. He'd rather complain about calls. Rockets have a pretty good, deep, defensive oriented team that can hurt us inside and out. Didn't expect us to be even close. I can't remember what the nuggets game was like, but I figured it's not even worth watching until our bigs come back from sickness/injury or if Hendrix gets called up. Why is Marcus Williams even in a suit if Nelson doesn't want a playmaker in there. Also, how does one of college's most productive big men get sent down in favor of Robert Kurz? WTF is up with that...
I think Hendrix was injured for most of the offseason and preseason. Kurz and others weren't. But apparently Don Nelson went to visit the D-League team to show his support for them. They seem to be playing pretty well. Maybe we will see Hendrix in action some time soon. It's still early in the season, about 1/4 through, I believe.
Regarding Marco. I think what happened was he went up against a good team that played good defense. You can't just say Marco was the only one who threw up bad shots. He actually played pretty decent compared to everyone else. That commentator was Mark Jackson. I remember him saying that but I think there's a back story that Mark Jackson isn't familiar with. Marcus Williams, as much as it looks like he can decently run an offense, must be doing something really bad on defense and/or something else that rubs Nellie the wrong way. You can't please everyone, I guess.
Thanks Clif. I hope we see Hendrix. If the guy is anything like Paul Milsap, I'll be stoked. We need an inside presence just like Turiaf. Somebody to rough up other guys and play like a tough guy.
