Why do some of us freak out about Bayless, but hail Batum as the second coming as Jesus Christ. Give Bayless some time, He will be what we need in the long run.
Because people are weird! I agree with you on Bayless. I still think he will penetrate the lineup by year end. He has a lot of the things we need. Speed. Physicality. Athleticism. Offense. What he needs right now, is to get a little more in control from the PG side of things. You could tell him to go in and score right now, and he would be able to do that. The question is, can he run the team.
Watchin' the Boston game, I thought he did great. He has obviously come a long way into trying to develop into a floor general. He has always been able to play PG (High school and College) but he doesn't have that calming, steady hand. During Boston, he was tellin' players where to be, got Rudy a wide open three off screens, got Outlaw the ball where he likes it at the FT line off a cut for a made basket, and alley ooped to Rudy (which went over his head). He is def. gettin' there. I REALLY like what I see in this kid. His attitude has been great. He has practiced harder than anyone even though he gets no time. Works hard in practice. Is amazingly enthusiastic on the bench. And when his number is called he hops right up and plays as hard as possible. What Bayless can turn into is phenominal. From his size and physical gifts, to his mentality and work ethic, he will be a special player.
Pritchard would actually be the buyer in this scenerio. He buys the ingrediants, and it's up to the chef (Nate) to make them the best they can be.
I'm unemployed and usually don't have anything to do in the late afternoon. The Bobcats are a fun team to watch, especially when I have both Wallace and Augustin on my fantasy team... and the Charlotte games tend to start at 4:00 or 4:30, so I watch them pretty consistently. Ed O.
I have only got to see Augustin once this season, and he was playing pretty good in that game, although it was a loss. Whats your take on DJ?
A right-handed Damon. A pretty decent player to have in a 14 team fantasy league, but not one that I would be overly enthusiastic about if I were a Blazers fan and he were on my team. Of course, part of Damon's problem was that he never really seemed to improve in any part of his game. Given that I think Augustin is about as good as Damon ever was right now, and given that most NBA players improve over time, he could still turn out to be a pretty good player. Good perimeter shooter and very good quickness and ability to get to the line. Superior in every way except, maybe, defense to Felton. Ed O.
He's quite a bit bigger/longer then Damon... or, he's small but not a complete liability on D. I've also seen him make layups He's ok and should have a long career. STOMP
He doesn't play bigger or longer that I can tell. Even Damon was able to manage 0 blocks in 707 minutes, for example. Ed O.
Apparently Felton has just agreed to a one-year qualifying offer (of $5.5M) with the Bobcats that means he'll be a UFA next year. Obviously Charlotte wants to keep its options open for the "Free Agent Bonanza" of '10, and perhaps they want to re-sign Felton, but they're taking a risk, and they've got Augustin waiting in the wings. We, on the other hand, have no real young player who's proven they can play the point effectively waiting for when Miller starts to break down. So... anyone interested? For Blake/Bayless? Felton's D is probably better than any guard we have at the moment.
