According to Chris Brousard this morning on ESPN, Bayless while not demanding a trade would like to be traded because he doesn't play. Brousard also said that some NBA executives believe the Blazers don't think Bayless is the answer at PG because he is a volume scorer. So let me get this straight......Brandon Roy doesn't want to play with a true PG who needs the ball all the time, but the Blazers don't think a player that doesn't need the ball all the time and can score isn't the answer? Jermaine O'Neal part deux. Probably better than both players in front of him, but can't get into the games because his coach doesn't like rookie mistakes.
This would be a terrible, terrible mistake if we let Bayless go. Absolutely terrible. He NEEDS to be our starter. If we get rid of him, I will be very, very disappointed.
I thought you were talking about Bayless, but then it sounded like you moved on to Rudy. "Probably better"? He's better than the people ahead of him like Allen Iverson is better than Chauncey Billups. Bayless is a short shooting guard (with stumpy arms). He's probably a very good short shooting guard. Trouble is, we have two better, larger shooting guards, both of whom have more court vision than he does. But don't worry - if he's Jermaine O'Neal part deux, then we've got him for at least a couple more years.
If this is true I finally think KP is making a mistake and Bayless will end up as a very good PG on the team we trade him to. There are a few posters here that don't think Bayless will ever be a PG and I can't wait to see what they say when he is a star PG on another team. Of coarse most of those posters will be upset we traded Bayless away and they always thought he was our answer for PG.
I personally dont want to deal Bayless but if this is true then I wonder if this changes KP's plan for if or what kind of move he makes. Throwing Bayless into a deal could really change the type of player we could get.
Bayless can bitch and moan all he wants. We've signed him to a rookie deal and he can demand a trade all he wants but it doesn't mean we have to trade him. The thing is that Blake or Sergio will play themselves out of the rotation if they stay inconsistent, and Bayless could get more PT if he keeps on working hard in practice.
We'll demanding a trade seemed to get Sergio more playing time, maybe it will work for Bayless. Looking at all the other rookies taken before him, he's getting much less PT than his peers. Personally I'd like to see Blake's minutes cut down a bit to get Bayless more burn.
If this is true then I think we should trade him. I'm sure we could get something back for him. He was saying that he didn't want to be a cancer and was happy to wait his turn because we are winning. So this would go against everything. Maybe he saw Sergio pout and whine until he got PT?
Hey guys the OP said Bayless is demanding a trade but just wants more PT. The only part that bothers me is that we might not consider him our future PG. I don't think we should trade him because he is better then any PG we could trade for and IMO is our perfect PG to play with Roy.
I can't imagine Bayless' value being too high since he fell so low in the draft and isn't getting any burn. How about David Lee Jared Jeffries Malik Rose for Jerryd Bayless Raef LaFrentz
Or trading other players can make room for Bayless. For example trading Outlaw and Frye for a backup PF could make room for Rudy to play in a 3 guard lineup, where Bayless gets some time at the 2 in the 2nd or 3rd unit. Things will only get worse when Webster is back into form. It has to be frustrating to not be getting PT, but he isn't the only Blazer that has had that issue.
