I'm not sure with the new one, but there should be a toolbar at the top with different pictures. Hover your mouse of them and a description will come up. In FM08, the Scout picture is binoculars. If you want to make a bid for someone, search a player, click on his name, and on the bottom left it should say "Make a Bid", or something like that.

so you have to know the player? Like there is no list of players where you can choose the best ones?

Yes, there is an icon at the top called "Player List" or something that lists the top players in your region (and you can change the filters to make it any region". Players that are known Worldwide need no scouting because everyone knows about them, that's the same for the big names in all the leagues. If you want to uncover some hidden gems, then you need to scout.

I suggest searching "Henri Saivet", and "Lulinha" for starters. They're some great youngsters.

Its alright. Not too much different from '08. I may get it, I may not. I'm quite content with 08 for now, and I have other games that are higher on my priority list (Left 4 Dead).

I'll probably "buy" it some other way. ;)

There are some differences between 08 and 09, majority in little details and the 3D match engine. I like the press conferences and interviews, but the game can be ungodly slow with the new match types. I honestly could not give two-shits about the 3D matches. They look very poor, even for a simple manager game. The biggest problem I have is that when I want to type free hand (such as adding my manager's name or answering questions) the game is so sensitive to the touch of your keyboard. For instance, I'll want to type something like "I believe we could have a great season," and it will turn out as "I bbeelieeevve wee cooulld hhavvve a grreeaattt sseeasoonn." No joke.

Those in-game kits are ugly as sin too. I don't get why they don't hire people like myself or the other guys who work on modifying the game to make their stuff instead. The player search is also very poor. I looked up Belgian players and Emmanuel Eboué turned up in the search among other players that are obviously not from that country. They didn't even add Dembélé or Defour in the search results either. Something that should and likely will be fixed before release.

The demo will only let you search half of the database. The final database will cover almost everyone. When you load a game in the demo, it only has certain regions, and famous players that show up. Don't worry, in the final version they will have a full database. For example, none of the Brasilian prodigies showed up for me, but that was because I loaded the Eng file.

I know about only having certain countries available. But so you know, the search function was like this (with missing or incorrectly placed players) in the past two titles as well, just not as severely as I experienced with the 09 version.

SI always have great patches. That's why it's such a good game. The community give their feedback, and SI tweak it to perfection.

That's true, but their games have never been perfect. That written, FM is still the best damn management game out there. I wish they wouldn't have stopped putting out that hockey management game .. they also need to put out a rugby manager game. The only one out there hasn't updated in about two years and it was crap anyway.

I think I'll pass on this year's FM. I'm going with only one football title this time out (due to my funds).

Anyway, anyone know good young, not too expensive strikers? What about defenders and midfilders as well..lol
